You will have many interesting adventures on land and underwater, including bosses. And The Giant Squid is the first boss in the game.
How to Kill the Giant Squid in Dave The Diver
As we mentioned, this is the first boss in the game that you’ll need to defeat to advance the story. The battle with him will be unlocked after you access Duff’s Pink Delivery Box mission chain. You’ll need to help Duff get a package that’s important to him. As it turns out, it’s in the ocean in the tentacles of this giant squid.
Preparation for The Giant Squid Battle
Before going to the boss, preparation is essential. You’re in for a challenging and long battle, so follow our tips below.
Weapons and Ammunition
Of course, how could we do without it? Before the fight, we recommend that you upgrade your weapons and stock up on enough ammunition to avoid running out of it. You can visit the Cobra’s Premium Shop to buy additional ammunition or bring in containers that will be on the battlefield. We also recommend using only ranged weapons, as you will need to hit the enemy’s weak point, which is not so easy to do with short-range weapons.
Consumables
When weapons and ammunition are ready, you should not forget about additional consumables that will be useful in battle. In the same Cobra’s Premium Shop, we recommend buying supplemental oxygen so that you have at least a bit more oxygen to finish the fight in case of heavy damage. Also, don’t forget to buy a scooter, which will be handy if you need to move quickly somewhere or run away from an attack.
Strategy for Fighting a Giant Squid
When you are thoroughly prepared, you can go into battle. The enemy will be in an underwater cave, which you can access when you cut open the corpus of the yellow sunken ship. Near this boat, you can also find several containers with loot, which will be a good bonus before the battle. When you’ve collected all the containers, continue to the right to the heart of the cave, where you’ll find the Giant Squid. When you get closer, the monster’s awakening cutscene will start, after which you can fight it.
Giant Squid Attacks
To defeat the enemy, you will need to hit him in his weak spot, which he has only one. His Achilles’ heel is the eye, which is located on his head, and you will need to make 5-6 shots before you defeat him. After each hit, the enemy will attack you and throw you away from the eye. In general, if you understand the mechanics of the enemy’s attacks correctly, you can easily overcome them. Below we will list all of his attacks.
Tentacle Attack
When you try to get close to the boss’s weak point, he will try to attack you with his tentacles. They will come out of the rocks quite quickly, so you’ll need to dodge them in time. To understand where the attack will come from and dodge, take a close look at the battlefield. A tentacle will soon appear if you see a place where the sand flies up.
The Pushback
When you hit the eye, the boss will get angry and try to throw you far back with his ink. This attack won’t damage you, but you’ll need to swim closer to the enemy again to strike while dodging the Tentacle Attack.
The Melee Slap
The last attack he can use is also a melee attack. If you hit him in the eye and he doesn’t use pushback, he will try to hit you with its tentacle to deal damage. The limb he usually uses to cover his eye can take a lot of oxygen from you, so try to swim a little further away so it doesn’t hit you.
