On this island of mutants, cannibals, and much worse things like demons, you can’t be safe. Besides, in your time lost in this place, you will need a base to rest, save what you find on your way, and avoid the bad weather. So, one of the only few ways to keep you and your companions safe from all these dangers in Sons of the Forest is to build a stable roof. Become the architect of your base.
Sons of the Forest: How To Build a Sturdy Roof?
The main thing in Sons of the Forest is to find an ideal location before you start building the roof of your base. There will be different materials depending on the area. If, for example, you are near trees, it will be easier to get wood for your home. But you will have to clear the area, although Kelvin can help with that. Once you have collected enough logs, it’s time to build. The easiest way is to think of square structures one log apart.
- First, you must create the foundation on the ground. Put a log on each side to make a square.
- Cut logs in half, enough to place on top of the square you just made to create the floor.
- Place a vertical log in each square corner to start creating the walls.
- Place logs horizontally until the structure is complete to finish the walls.
- The roof can be completely flat; place more logs cut in half, as you did with the floor.
- If you want to create windows or a door, point with your axe, and a red dotted line will indicate where the cut will be.
- Cut logs in half for the door and place them vertically in the space you created.
How to Build Different Roof Styles
You already know how to build a basic small roofed shelter in Sons of the Forest, but you can make a more stylish fortress. You can start by enlarging the space, always building, considering the structure of the basic square. If you have two logs in the distance, you must put one in the middle so your structure doesn’t lose strength. But these are the different types of roofs:
- Inclined: With the four vertical logs of the walls, you can cut two of the sides you prefer to the height you want. Then, add a sloped log connecting the longer and short sides and fill it with wood.
- Full of logs: The triangular structure is filled with full logs. For example, you can use 2 horizontal logs, place 1 log in the middle on top of the others, and one log on each side to make a triangular shape. You can change the length of the logs according to the construction.
Follow the colored lines and arrows that appear; they help give direction to the construction. They are also crucial for when you add electric power to your base.
