One of the reasons many players went back to play Cyberpunk 2077 was the Edgerunners anime. After this fantastic piece of art was released, the number of players who joined to play Cyberpunk 2077 skyrocketed. If you are one of those people here is a thorough guide on how to build David Martinez from the Edgerunners series in Cyberpunk 2077 2.0.
The 2.0 Update of Cyberpunk 2077 added a whole bunch of new items, attributes, and skills that are based on characters from the Edgerunners. In this guide, we’ll cover how you can build David’s character in Cyberpunk 2077 in three categories: Appearance, Skills, and Cyberware.
David Character Creation
Before you start creating your character in Cyberpunk 2077 you will be represented by Life Path options. In the case of David, the best choice is Streetkid. Even though he was part of Arasaka’s academy, he quickly abandoned that lifestyle and became a true Streetkid. So we will choose that option.
Next, we have the character creation. Creating the exact replica of David from the anime is almost an impossible task in Cyberpunk 2077 for various reasons. Yet, you can create an avatar that is close to him. To avoid over-explanation we’ve gathered the settings you should choose in character creation down below:
- Male
- Skin Tone: 1
- Skin Type: 5
- Hairstyle: 18
- Hair Color: 27
- Eyes: 3
- Eye Color: 1
- Eyebrows: 2

Now that we’ve created our own David, it is time to choose the best outfit for him as well. The only piece of clothing that was directly added to the game from the series is David’s iconic yellow jacket. You can get this jacket by completing the Over the Edge side quest. It’s not a challenging quest but it will require some patience to finish it.
As for the rest of the clothes, there isn’t anything directly from the anime that you can find or purchase. For the shirt underneath the jacket, you can wear a black T-shirt if you want to rock with the earlier style of David or wear nothing as David does in the last couple of episodes in Edgerunners.
The pants David wears are long gray pants which are impossible to find in the game. The closest thing to it is probably some Cargo Pants with the same color, but you can choose anything else since there isn’t a specific one. The same goes for David’s shoes.
Best Attributes and Perks for David from Edgerunners
In the anime series David most of them use hand-to-hand combat rather than weapons unless it was necessary. So you want to put most of your points into Body, Cool, Reflexes, and Technical Ability and avoid Intelligence for the most part. All of these attributes should be between 18 and 20 to be closer to what David was and also be able to unlock the specific perks.
- Starting with the Body Attribute try to put some points on the Left Perks Tree which is Shotgun related. That is because at the end of Edgerunners David uses a double-barrel shotgun. Then try to put as many points as you can in the middle tree to increase your HP, Stamina, and damage resistance. As for the Right Tree, there isn’t any specific perk that David uses, but since it is all about hand-to-hand and melee, pick your favorites and invest some points.
- The next attribute is Technical Ability. In this Attribute, your main focus should be the middle tree which is Edgerunner. Everything related to David’s skills and perks is all here. From upgrading your resistance to get higher-end cyberwar to slowing down time.
- The Cool Attribute is something you should choose. If you want to focus on gun fights, more specifically pistols try to unlock as many perks as possible on the left side. Otherwise, if you are into the hand-to-hand build of David, you can skip these perks mostly unless you find something that interests you.
- Lastly the Reflex Attribute. In this attribute, you should put most of your points in the middle tree which is related to the Sandevistan cyberware of David. Make sure to check the right tree as well because of some Mantis Blades and Gorilla Arms skills if you are into that gameplay style.
David’s Cyberware in Cyberpunk 2077
The last bit of recreating David in the game is the Cyberware. Let’s run through our preferred options.
- Starting with the Operating System, the obvious choice is Zetatech Sandevistan because of its long duration and short cooldown. It’s probably not the best one, but it is the closest to David.
- As for the Frontal Cortex, the best option is the Axololt variant of Newtone Module which has a direct effect on shortening your cooldown. As for the Face, there aren’t many options and Kiroshi “The Oracle” Optics are the best.
- Then comes to Circulatory System which you should go with Microrotors which increases your melee attack speed and is closer to David’s build. You should choose the Adrenaline Converter Nervous System for the same reason as well.
- In the Integumentary System which is basically armor, you should go with Subdermal Armor which is close to how much David was resistant to damage at the end. Then for the Skeleton Titanium Bones are the best options for the same reason.
- Then comes the Arms Cyberware which you should choose Gorilla Arms and have some room, Mantis Blades. These are the exact Cyberware David used in the series and they are quite powerful in the game as well. If you are into punching enemies go with Gorilla Arms, otherwise, Mantis Blades are fast and lethal as well.
- And lastly, for the Legs go with Reinforced Tendons to get yourself a double jump ability. It truly boosts your gameplay experience, especially if you decide to get into close range with each fight.
