Like most life simulation games, Spirittea gives you the option to fish. However, unlike most of those games, there isn’t a clear instruction on how. Well, there’s a clear instruction on how to fish. There aren’t clear instructions on where to get a fishing rod to actually start fishing. If you’re an avid fisher in video games, then we’ll save you some time and show you where to pick up your very own fishing rod. We’ll even throw in how to catch fish in Spirittea.
How To Get The Fishing Rod in Spirittea
To get the fishing rod in Spirittea, you’ve got to pick it up for 400 moolags from the shop. Once that’s out of the way, then comes how to actually use it to catch fish. Unlike most other games, Spirittea takes its fishing minigame a little more seriously. To catch fish, follow these steps:
- To catch a fish, you need to fill up the catch bar before the escape bar (the bobber) has emptied.
- Aim the hook towards the fish using the D-Pad or the arrow keys and fill the catch bar by repeatedly pressing B on an Xbox controller, A on a Switch controller, Circle on a PlayStation controller, or the Left Shift on a keyboard.
- If your hook gets stuck in seaweed, repeatedly press B on an Xbox controller, A on a Switch controller, Circle on a PlayStation controller, or the Left Shift on a keyboard to free it.
It took us quite a few tries before we were finally able to nab a fish. We will admit that it takes some getting used to before you’ll be catching fish easily just because of the small nuances. Something that initially got us is that the hook faces the opposite way when you turn it, meaning that you need to go in the opposite direction in order for it to face the fish.
We also discovered that you need to be holding the directional button while repeatedly pressing the catch button. Otherwise, the catch bar won’t fill up and you won’t be able to catch the fish. Just be patient and make sure that you watch out for the seaweed because getting tangled really holds you back with the amount of time it takes to shake it off.
Spirittea is available on PC via Game Pass, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation.
