Between underclothing, clothing, armor, and layered armor, outfits get complicated in Monster Hunter Wilds. There isn’t an official outfits system, but Capcom has given players plenty of ways to express themselves. After perfecting your hair, makeup, and voice pitch during character creation, most of the heavy lifting is already done. That said, there are ways to switch up your style after your journey’s begun. Nothing beats carving up critters in a flawless fit, after all. Here’s how to change outfits in Monster Hunter Wilds.
MHW Outfits Guide

Outfit changes are one of the most basic customization options in Wilds, a game that packs plenty. Though there might not be a ton of preset loadouts and other QoL options, it’s still pretty welcoming. Of course, armor gets most of the attention, since that’s where you’ll get your buffs and abilities. Looking the part still matters, and even without a dedicated outfit system, there are several ways to customize your wardrobe. Here’s how to change outfits in Monster Hunter Wilds.
- To change outfits and other visual options, go to your tent
- Open the “Change Appearance” menu
- From here you can hide some armor parts and change other apparel options
- You can also change your underwear’s color and even add accessories like nets
One of the biggest boons for fashion-conscious hunters is layered armor. This system allows you to use the stats of one armor set but the appearance of another. That opens up a new world of fashion options while keeping you battle-ready. The only bad news is you have to complete the campaign to unlock it at High Rank, which can take some time. Changing outfits lets you customize your appearance in Monster Hunter Wilds even at lower ranks. Emerald underwear might not keep Rathalos from stomping you, but at least you’ll look cool.
