Crop farming in Manor Lords is vital to ensure that your village has a steady supply of food for the year. In order to harvest more efficiently, you need to choose fertile soil according to the crop you are going to farm. If the fertility of the land you farm in Manor Lords is high, you will automatically get more yield at harvest time. Therefore, you need to place your farm fields in a proper spot in order not to regret it later.
How To Check Fertility of the Soil in Manor Lords
As we have mentioned before, it is extremely important to build your crop fields on fertile land in Manor Lords. This will give you a head start in the game and allow you to get much more grain. It is always more difficult to build your economy at the beginning of the game, but getting off to a good start will make your job much easier. And you should definitely use this fertility mechanic in Manor Lords to get off to a good start.
To check the fertility of your soils, first go to the Construction (C) section. When you reach this menu, an overlay will appear on the right side of your screen and you can activate the overlay you want from there.
There are four different crops you can farm in the game. These are Emmer (Wheat), Flax, Barley, and Rye. For example, a land that is fertile for Wheat may not be fertile for Barley in Manor Lords. Therefore, if you are going to farm Wheat, you should select “Emmer Fertility” from the overlay and place your farm fields accordingly. Red-colored areas are the least fertile and green areas are the most fertile.
How To Increase the Fertility in Manor Lords
In Manor Lords, it is possible to increase the fertility of your land. If you click on your Field and mark the Crop Type as Fallow, you won’t get a crop, but the fertility of your soil will start to increase over time.
For example, make three different crop fields and activate the Crop Rotation option on all of them. Let one farm’s Crop Type be Wheat, the other farm’s second year be Fallow and the third farm’s third year be Wheat. Set Crop Type to Fallow for all other years except these. This way you will get a decent amount of crops every year while at the same time increasing the fertility of your other crop fields.
