The ability to claim wild baby dinosaurs in Ark: Survival Ascended is one of the biggest and arguably most adorable changes we’ve seen in the new remaster yet. Rather than having to put long, hard hours into trying to breed dinosaurs to get babies, we can now find them in the wild and claim them. However, the process isn’t just that simple. There’s a bit more to it, and it can get dangerous at times. Before you can claim a wild baby dinosaur in Ark: Survival Ascended, you must either kill or tame its mother. Let’s check out how it works.
Claiming Wild Baby Dinosaurs in Ark: Survival Ascended
Claiming a wild baby dinosaur in Ark: Survival Ascended might sound like such an easy task, but there are some other aspects to consider. First of all, no mama enjoys watching their babies being stolen from them, obviously. You won’t be able to just walk up to a baby dinosaur with its mom standing right there and snatch it up. From the looks of it, Studio Wildcard was going for a more realistic vibe with Ark: Survival Ascended, so expect something as close to reality as possible. You wouldn’t walk up to a grizzly bear and steal her cub, would you? Same concept. You have to get rid of the mom before you can take the baby.
Now, there are two ways you can claim a wild baby dinosaur. First, you can tame the mother, and once the mother is fully tamed, you can claim the baby as well. However, that method takes quite a while, and the baby could easily wander off in that time. So, for those purposes, we’re going to go with the second method: kill the mother. Do keep in mind that you won’t even be offered the option to claim a baby unless the mother is either dead or claimed, so there really is no other way around it.
Once you’ve taken care of the mother, either by taming her or killing her, you will be free to claim the wild baby dinosaur in Ark: Survival Ascended. Just walk up to the baby dino, and press E on your keyboard to imprint on it.
