If you’re already in the Gouge mission of Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate, then you should be familiar with the expansion’s pattern. You unlock a new area, do two short missions in small areas of the zone, and then one larger mission in all the previous areas of that zone. It may sound like a tongue twister, but it isn’t. Also, I’m not saying this is a bad formula. After all, it’s a great way to use your new destination abilities to explore and overcome a few obstacles. However, there are a few puzzles that might be challenging for some Guardians, which is why I’ve put together a quick walkthrough for the Gouge quest in The Edge of Fate.

‘Gouge’ Quest Walkthrough

You’ll begin the Gouge mission in Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate after completing Mission: Saturnism and Mission: Transient. Once you do that, you can start Gouge, which will send you to some familiar locations, with a few more objectives here and there.

The whole objective of the quest is Dismantling the House of Exile Prime Servitor, in other words, beating the final boss. Yet, you’ll have to do a few things before facing the quest’s big baddie.

Just like other quests, you’ll begin with some quick enemy phases where they appear out of the woodwork. So, just shoot them up and keep following the quest markers.

Eventually, you’ll reach a few force field doors, and to unlock them, you’ll have to destroy the generators. All of them look like the one in the above image, and all you must do is shoot them. This mechanic will repeat throughout the quest, so whenever you see a door, look for the generator. If you encounter a shielded generator, you’ll need to destroy a few other generators in the area before taking this one down. The quest makes it easy by showing you the exact location of the other objects you need to destroy.

Since you’ve already unlocked the Relocator in other missions, you’ll have to use it in this quest, and here’s the tricky part. You’ll have to shoot it across the laser ducts to activate the teleporter. The first one is easy, as you can see in the image.

Once you step into that portal, you’ll encounter a duct labyrinth surrounded by lasers. Keep following the markers until you reach the bottom, then look up to your left and enter that duct.

After entering through the duct, drop down and grab the Relocator. After that, you’ll have to jump back up the platform and go through the duct on the right. Once inside, aim your Relocator and shoot the panel on the other side of the laser doors.

Turn back and grab the portal, and you’ll teleport to a space that allows you to turn into Matterspark. Do so, and enter the small tunnel. Once you exit, you’ll encounter several waves of enemies and a room with traps. This area isn’t particularly complex, and all you need to do is follow the markers until you reach an area closed off by lasers. You’ll need to solve a quick puzzle here to pass through the lasers.

You must shoot the relay in the middle two or three times, until it looks like the above image. It should be aimed at the bottom of the tunnel. Once you align it, grab the relocator and shoot at the relay on the wall to activate the portal. After that, enter the room and prepare for the boss fight.

Exile Prime Servitor Boss Fight

This fight isn’t too complicated, but its three phases will take a while, especially since you need to travel to different locations to disable the boss’s protection. As always, the first phase is a DPS check, so just bring the boss down to the second bar until its shields are up. After that, look for a Relocator, which should spawn in a room near the boss, and shoot the relay closest to you to unlock the portals.

After that, follow the markers and you’ll have to destroy a shield generator to remove the Servitor’s shields. This will repeat through the whole fight, so that means you’ll need to destroy a generator in each phase. Additionally, once you reach the final phase with the boss, the process will repeat.

Use the Relocator, teleport to a new area, find the generator, destroy it, and damage the boss. The big difference is that the final phase also involves a Matterspark section, but it will put markers up for you to follow, so it won’t be too difficult. Once you defeat the boss, you’ll have completed the Gouge mission and will be able to continue with the campaign of Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate. Remember to put the Strangelet into the altar after finishing each mission.
