Zelda Tears of the Kingdom: Hateno Village Research Lab Walkthrough
First of all, it is worth noting that accepting the Hateno Village Research Lab side quest is not so easy. You have to complete a whole chain of quests before accessing this quest. You can skip this guide section if you have already received the Hateno Village Research Lab. But if not, here is a list of prerequisites/quests you must complete:
- Talk to Robbie and Josha in Lookout Landing and complete the Camera Work in the Depths quest. To do this, you must travel to Hyrule Field Chasm to unlock the Camera and take a photo of the mysterious statue.
- Next, jump in the Great Plateau North Chasm to unlock the Autobuild ability on the Zonai pedestal.
- Return to Lookout Landing and accept the quest A Mystery in the Depths from Josha. Create a Balloon for Robbie using the Autobuild ability.
Completing all the above requirements, head to the southeastern Hyrule part in Hateno Village. Next, go to the east end of the village and climb the hill to get to the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab. Talk with Robbie, and you’ll unlock the Shrine Sensor and accept the Hateno Village Research Lab side quest.
Having acquired the Sensor, it immediately activates, marking a shrine nearby. To complete the Hateno Village Research Lab side quest in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, you must go down into the cave at the foot of the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab and unlock the shrine. Here’s how to do it.
- Leaving the Tech Lab, go down to the bottom of the hill and use the Bomb Flower to open a passage to Retsam Forest Cave.
- Jump down the cave to find and activate the Mayahisik Shrine. You mustn’t complete the shrine now, so you can immediately return to Robbie to complete the Hateno Village Research Lab.
