Tears of the Kingdom brings old lady Impa back, and it’s like she never left — she’s once again asked you to recall memories in the Geoglyphs side quest. Impa is a wise and loyal caretaker of Princess Zelda, but also a skilled warrior and member of the Sheikah tribe, with the power of invisibility and enhanced senses. In Tears of the Kingdom, she’s one of the few characters who doesn’t go, “Huh? Link! Is that you?!” We love her for it. Instead, she gets right to the point: there’s a geoglyph with a weird puddle. Spot it.

How to Start Impa and the Geoglyphs

To start this quest, you’ll need to locate the New Serenne Stable in Hyrule Ridge. Then, speak to Cado to acquire the quest Impa and the Geoglyphs in Tears of the Kingdom. He’s standing right in front of the stable with a donkey to his right. He’ll point you to where Impa is, where the fun begins.

Head to Impa’s location in the center of the field. As you speak, she’ll point out that her hot air balloon broke while trying to study this Geoglyph. If you can fix it for her, she’ll take you for a ride and guide you to discover the secrets behind the mysterious Geoglyph in Tears of the Kingdom.

You’ll need to use your Ultrahand ability to fix her hot air balloon. Grab the balloon lying on the platform’s right, right there on the field. Make sure you rotate it upwards and attach it to the base of the balloon. Talk to her to let her know it’s fixed — come on, Impa, as if it wasn’t already obvious.

She’ll ask you to join her, but most importantly, light the fire that fuels the hot air balloon. You can do this using a flint stone and any metallic sword. Sure, Impa now probably thinks you’re a bit of a savage, but who cares.

The Geoglyph is massive, covering a vast portion of the land. It also doesn’t help that its form is indistinguishable up close. Take advantage of Impa’s hot air balloon ride to spot the shape of a creature. If you paraglide toward the creature’s head, you’ll spot what seems to be an eye. It looks like grass from afar, but upon closer inspection, it’s a green puddle. If you see an enemy outpost, you should head back.

Inspect the green puddle to recall one of Zelda’s memories. Once the cutscene is over, Impa will speak with you. Tears of the Kingdom’s  Geoglyph investigation is no more. Now it’s time for The Dragon’s Tears.

Tears of the Kingdom is available on the Nintendo Switch.
