While most Shrines can be encountered in the overworld above ground, Kyokugon Shrine in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is tucked away in a cave. Specifically, you can find this Shrine by exploring the linear Great Plateau Foothill Cave far south of Hyrule Field in Central Hyrule. You’ll need blunt weapons or tools to smash through the large stone blocking the pathway through the cave to reach the Shrine located inside. After accessing the Kyokugon Shrine in TotK, you must complete “Alignment of the Circles” to get the Light of Blessing.

To complete “Alignment of the Circles” of Kyokugon Shrine in TotK, you’ll need to look up in a literal sense. Inside the main chamber, you’ll notice multiple round pits and four small balls. There are not enough balls for all the holes, meaning four specific spots must be chosen to solve the puzzle. As we mentioned above, the answer is “up.”

If you glance at the ceiling of Kyokugon Shrine in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll see four green circles. The pits that these four circles are directly below are the correct mechanisms that open the door to the next room. So, you’ll need to take the balls from their pedestals by the stairwells and look to know where you need to place them. You can use your Ultrahand to relocate the orbs, or you have Link physically carry them.

If the circle turns green, you can know if you’ve activated the correct round pit in “Alignment of the Circles” in TotK. If not, then recheck the ceiling for the right positions. If it’s hard to determine the markings’ exact spots above, consider using the Purah Pad’s camera function to zoom in for a closer look.

Once all four holes have been filled, a brief cutscene will play, showing that the door to the altar room has been unlocked. It’s also the chamber with the TotK Kyokugon Shrine Treasure Chest.

The Treasure Chest is locked away in an enclosure separated from the altar’s chamber. To open the entryway, you must find the home of the lone ball next to the treasure room’s entrance. There are two ways to discover the mechanism’s location:

  1. Activate your Ultrahand ability to scan the room for a highlighted orange panel on the ground.
  2. Look up, and you’ll see a green circular marking, similar to the previous puzzle chamber of “Alignment of the Circles” in TotK.

After you’ve determined with the loose panel is, use your Ultrahand to reveal a hidden round put. Place the ball into the hole to unlock the door to the Treasure Chest. You’ll receive a Hearty Elixir for your efforts, along with the Shrine’s Light of Blessing.
