If you’re in Cydonia on the planet Mars while playing Starfield, then chances are that you’ve met Trevor and have completed the Red Tape Blues quest there. After that quest, you’re given another one titled Red Tape Runaround. The latter is an easy one to complete but is admittedly a little time-consuming, even with companions. We wrote out exactly how to complete Red Tape Runaround in Starfield so that you won’t need to stop and research it mid-quest.

There are several steps within the Red Tape Runaround quest inย Starfield. They are as follows:

  • Report to work for Peter Brennan.
    • You will need to apply for the position of Peter’s personal assistant, as outlined in the previous quest, Red Tape Blues. Report to him to begin working.
  • Speak with Governor Hurst.
    • Peter has a shipment that’s apparently been blockaded by Governor Hurst, forcing you to have to speak with him. Of course, he needs a favor to be done in exchange for Peter’s shipment.
  • Find the stolen ship.
    • You need to locate and destroy Governor Hurst’s ship for unknown reasons.
  • Hail the ship.
    • You can hail the ship and convince the pirates who are now aboard it to let you on.
  • Enter the ship.
    • Once you board the ship, the pirates will let you know that they see through your facade and will let you leave if you give them all of your belongings. This is where things can play out differently depending on your decisions.
  • (Optional) Search for more clues.
    • If you decide to kill all of the pirates aboard, you can search for more clues and find a dead woman with an incriminating message about Governor Hurst.
  • (Optional) Deal with the pirates.
    • You could sweet-talk the pirates and avoid fighting with them.
  • (Optional) Destroy Hurst’s ship.
    • Destroying the ship will destroy all traces of anything aboard it. Except, of course, a bit of blackmail.
  • Return to Hurst.
    • You can blackmail Hurst and let him know that you know about the incriminating message, to which he will reward you with 12,000 credits to keep shut and give him the message. He will then give you the package you need to return to Peter.
  • Deliver the package to Peter.
    • You’ll have gained Peter’s trust which means he will allow you onto his computer without questions asked.
  • Approve the equipment request.
    • Approve the equipment request that Trevor has put in for new equipment and then return to him.

Starfieldย is coming out September 6th for PC, Xbox Series X/S.
