The Running of the Yakmels is a festival that runs through Sandrock for two days in My Time at Sandrock. It’s the time of the year when Owen gives a huge speech and the townsfolk all participate in creating recipes while riding on Yakmels. It’s a lot like bull riding, though a lot less violent. Since the festival only happens once a year, we outlined how to complete the Running of the Yakmels in My Time at Sandrock so that you can walk away with more points than anyone else there.

Once you’ve signed up to join the Running of the Yakmels, you’ll immediately have to get on your Yakmel. Follow these instructions for how to participate as well as how to win:

  1. Before the race starts, find the barn markets with your number and get ready before time runs out.
  2. When the race starts, ride your Yakmel and collect as many ingredients as possible to gain points. The higher your score, the higher your ranking.
  3. Make sure you keep an eye out for Yakmel-shaped badges around the arena. These will give you a dash.
    • Dash into your opponent’s Yakmel to stun it. It might even drop some ingredients.
  4. At the end of each round, the goods in your bag and available dashes will reset.
  5. During the match, a special moment is called “Collection Time.” During this time, a recipe will be shown at the top. Collect ingredients according to the recipe to earn extra points.

We recommend not worrying so much about dashing because it will ultimately slow you down. When you hit an opponent, you also stop for a second, letting other players grab the ingredients that spawn around you.
