How To Complete the Derealize Exotic Mission in Destiny 2

One step closer to the end

We’ve already talked about how to start the Barrow-Dyad SMG quest and how to complete the Taken Path quest. Now, we’ll move on to the final Derealize Exotic Quest in this long chain that rewards players with a new, weird-looking but powerful weapon. Contrary to the previous quest, this one is a bit more straightforward, and players shouldn’t have a lot of difficulty with it, especially since it is mostly combat-oriented. So, grab your best gear and prepare to take the fight to the Taken once more.

Complete Derealize Exotic Quest Guide

The quest will start as soon as you get the final three fragments from the Taken Path quest. Once you do that, the Derealize Exotic mission will begin. Here’s what you have to do:

  1. Defeat the Dread around the area. Be careful about the debuff you’ll get from the fight. After a certain number of stacks, you’ll die.
  2. You need to fight the Dread Commander at the end of the area.
  3. Once you find the Taken Relic, grab it and charge it by killing enemies. This will let you jump between zones to damage the boss. Do this several times until you kill the boss.
  4. After that, you’ll move on to a puzzle area. Here, you need to pay attention to the symbols that appear on the plates. Basically, you need to match the symbols with the corresponding plate to progress. You need to memorize the four symbols and then step on the right plate when the symbol appears in front of you.
  5. You’ll then reach a large area featuring a jumping puzzle. You need to follow the puzzle and destroy three crystals to open the boss’s room.
  6. During the boss fight, you need to get the boss down to a certain HP percentage. Some players claim it is around one-quarter of its HP. Once that happens, you’ll get teleported and fight another version of the boss. Bring his HP down to yet another HP threshold, and repeat the process until you defeat this enemy.
  7. Lastly, you’ll need to step on a plate to lock the enemy inside a room. Doing so will complete the quest, thus granting you the Barrow-Dyad SMG.

And there you have it. A proper Exotic Quest full of mystery, puzzles, and a lot of lore, but most importantly, a great weapon, despite its weird look. You might want to do the follow-up quests to grab the Catalyst and upgrades, but that’s a story and a grind for another day.
