How To Complete the Vulnerable Challenge in Phasmophobia

A strong Offense is a great Defense, if you can be quick enough.

Every week in Phasmophobia, we get to experience a more challenging game mode than the usual, and test our wits and skill in the latest Challenge Mode. One such Challenge Mode presents us with the Vulnerable Challenge in Phasmophobia, and it really forces us to be on top of our game and be as efficient as possible. While it might seem like the most difficult of challenges, you might be surprised how much more challenging a contract can get when you have no means of defense aside from hiding out and waiting for the Hunt to conclude.

Before we jump right into the challenge, let’s take a look at the loadout that we’ll have at our disposal:

  • Tier 1 Headgear
  • Tier 1 Candle
  • Tier 1 Lighter
  • Tier 1 Motion Sensor
  • Tier 1 Parabolic Microphone
  • Tier 1 Microphone
  • Tier 1 Salt
  • Trier 1 EMF Reader
  • Tier 1 Camera
  • Tier 1 Spirit Box
  • Tier 1 Thermometer
  • Tier 1 UV Light
  • Tier 1 Flashlight
  • Tier 1 D.O.T.S. Projector
  • Tier 1 Notebook
  • Tier 1 Camera
  • Tripod

That said, with only tier 1 items, you’ll be up against a decent challenge as it is. The lower tiered items are typically less accurate and more difficult to use than more advanced ones, so you’ll have to make do with what you’ve got.

You’ll have no defensive items, so no Incense, no Sanity Pills, no Smudge Sticks, and no Crucifix. However, that shouldn’t slow you down too much. However, you should note that you also have no countdown before hunts can start either. As soon as your Sanity drops, even if it’s within the first minute of the contract, you’ll be vulnerable to attacks since this is, after all, Phasmophobia‘s Vulnerable Challenge Mode.

The best way that I’ve found to beat this challenge mode is to stay on the offensive side of the gameplay. Be aggressive when it comes to getting evidence. Since there is no countdown timer, you can start getting evidence much more quickly than you would otherwise. Be sure to pile up gear to take in right outside the door before unlocking it and entering so that you won’t waste precious time and lower your Sanity too much beforehand. Be sure to check for the most obvious evidence and behavioral types, like Ghost Orbs, Ghost Speed, Temperature, and anything else that can be picked up on rather quickly.

Jordan is an experienced fantasy writer who spends hours behind her laptop, and lost in the pages of a book. She strives to be a successful gaming blogger, and has no complaint about the hours of game time she used to increase her knowledge of all things “geek”. She primarily writes gaming articles and fantasy novels. Ark: Survival Evolved is a favorite, along with Diablo 3, Warframe and Minecraft lately, though you can’t forget the good old Magic the Gathering card game! Writing about games truly gives her joy as it gives her another perspective to look at games from, a reason to really look into the mechanics of the game.
