As you progress Last Epoch‘s story, you’ll encounter gorgeous worlds and dangerous new foes. Upon arrival at Maj’Elka, freshly after narrowly surviving Lagon, you must soon deal with the hostile Nagasa there while deciding which faction to join. This location’s elite enemies in Last Epoch are the Diamond Matrons, and while they’re annoying, there’s an easy way to beat them.
Easy Ways to Beat Diamond Matrons in Last Epoch
Things all depends, of course, on your build, but the best ways to beat the Diamond Matron in Last Epoch are the following:
- Focus on eliminating the main enemy first.
- Use area-of-effect attacks, boost your defenses, and take her minions down with her.
- Kill the minions fast, then the Diamond Matron.
The final tip is only reasonable if you’ve got a build letting you attack from afar. The Diamond Matron, while not a boss, can make life difficult like one, having a surprising array of strong attacks at long and mid-range. Additionally, she can heal her minions around her if their health gets low, so you need to work quickly, or else they’ll outlast you.
Diamond Matron Attacks and Tricks to Use Against Them
The Diamond Matron has an area-of-effect orbital beam attack marked by a circular template. Simply move out of its range, and you’ll still have a chance to attack up close or at a distance. Stay away from the gold circle around this enemy if you are a ranged attacker, as she likes to swipe in large arcs.
Lesser Nagasa will encircle the Matron to defend her, but if you have area-of-effect attacks of your own, use these to punish them. If her allies are low health, she can use Healing Hand for area burst healing, so focus on killing enemies fast.
Given that the recommended level for this area is 56, chances are you’ve got your skills and builds well fleshed out. While some Mages might enjoy a Disintegrate hit-and-run on her, I use a Spellblade build focused on lightning attacks. I kited all of her minions to her, cast Flame Ward with Enchant Weapon, and used Mana strike, resulting in Spark explosions that overwhelmed them.
Diamond Matron Location in Last Epoch
Diamond Matrons appear in the Maj’Elka Upper Temple location (Divine Era) in Last Epoch, surrounded by Emerald or Ruby Nagasa. They’ve been sighted on the Temple Rooftops, but your best bet is further in this dungeon area. They’re an elite enemy, meaning they’ll often have modifiers, including Twin or Healing abilities — basically double the threats.
