This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

After defeating Zorba in Metaphor: ReFantazio, you’ll have no time to take a break because the game will then pit you against Homo Avades. This human is the toughest boss you’ll face during the early hours due to all the new gimmicks it has and the extra mechanics you have to deal with. Thankfully, you can “cheese” the fight by bringing the right combination of Archetypes and since you’ll begin the encounter with full HP and MP, everything should be much easier. Still, we’ve prepared a quick guide for those who’re struggling to beat this human.

Homo Avades Boss Strategy

Before we delve into Archetypes, moves, and the overall strategy, let’s list a few of the mechanics and other useful information for this encounter.

  • Homo Avades’s Shell is weak against Strike attacks.
  • The Shell is the weak spot. You should prioritize attacking it above all else.
  • Once the Shell breaks, focus on the heart.
  • After the boss recovers, many enemies will spawn inside the shell, defeat them, or risk receiving a lot of damage.
  • After a while, arms will spawn to heal the Shell, they are weak to Fire.

With the broader details listed above, we can move on to the actual strategy to defeat Homo Avades in Metaphor: ReFantazio. First, prepare these archetypes for each character:

  • Protagonist: Healer or Seeker, but preferably the former due to the Shell being weak to Strike and the Healer using Strike attacks. If you weren’t able to switch to Healer, keep the Protagonist as Seeker to focus on healing.
  • Strohl: He will be the main DPS here. Have him primarily be a Warrior, but use the Perfect Punch skill from Brawler. It is also important to equip Strohl with the Dragon’s Judgement blade you got from the mines after purifying it. This will be useful against the arms.
  • Hulkenberg: Keep her a Knight to aggro enemies, but if possible, unlock Mage for her to inherit the Bot (Fire) Skill from Mage.

Once the fight begins, attack the Shell with everything you’ve got. Strohl’s Perfect Punch will do a lot of damage if he’s at high HP. Use the Protagonist to fully heal Strohl to keep the DPS up. Use Hulkenberg’s normal attacks to hit the Shell; she won’t do much until the arms spawn. Also, while you could use Jump Thrust to lower the defense, saving those attacks for the heart is better.

Once the heart is at reach, spam your Synthesis Skills. When the arms spawn, use Strohl’s normal attacks, which should be infused with Fire and have Hulkenberg cast Bot on the arms, too. This will give you a few free turns and allow you eliminate the arms before they heal the Shell. Finally, while the boss hits hard, as long as the Protagonist sticks to healing, you shouldn’t encounter any major issues during the fight.
