No boss fights are as dramatic as the one against Romeo boss, King of Puppets, in Lies of P. As Pinocchio wanders further into Krat, he continues to run into equally jaw-dropping and frustrating bosses. They are worthy of admiration because their design is frankly showstopping. But, alas, as this is a pretty tough game, we’ve grown to develop a love-hate relationship with them.

Romeo, King of Puppets Phase 1 Moveset

  • Cyclone Impale: Generates a swirling wind vortex, followed by an underground spike eruption penetrating defenses even when blocking.
  • Earthquake Slam: Marches toward you, causing the ground to tremble upon impact, followed by an unblockable double-arm sweep.
  • Frenzied Arm Assault: Launches a rapid flurry of strikes with both arms in a relentless attack.
  • Gravitational Pull: Romeo, King of Puppets in Lies of P, crouches down, drawing you in before releasing a devastating area-of-effect blast.
  • Mighty Sweep: Prepares for a powerful wind-up, then unleashes an unblockable outward sweep with both arms.
  • Skyward Launching Smash: Both arms pierce the ground and propel the boss into the air.
  • Spark Mine Barrage: Deploys a series of explosive spark mines that detonate after a brief delay.
  • Whirling Strike: Spins and strikes with its arms in a twisting motion.

Romeo Phase 1 Strategy

If you’ve got a summon, now’s the time to call them to battle. They can take Romeo head-on while you focus on dealing damage to its back, or… well, given its enormous size, its butt.

After taking 50% damage, Romeo, King of Puppets in Lies of P, will fall. This is the perfect time to deal damage relentlessly.

Romeo, King of Puppets Phase 2 Moveset

  • Ember Dash: Swiftly dashes around, leaving fiery trails on the ground, with damage leading to an accumulation of overheating.
  • Inferno Edge: Envelops the scythe in searing flames, initiating an eight-strike combo.
  • Piercing Plunge: Thrusts downward to strike your character, followed by an explosive upward thrust.
  • Reaper’s Waltz: Romeo King of Puppets in Lies of P engages in a graceful dance of scythes, best countered by sidestepping and seizing opportunities to strike.
  • Soaring Assault: Leaps into the air with great height, descending in a powerful foot stomp that cannot be defended against.
  • Swift Blitz: Executes a lightning-fast maneuver, evading attacks and lunging in for a close-quarters strike.
  • Tremor Strike: Winds up for a devastating foot stomp that cannot be blocked.

Romeo Phase 2 Strategy

As soon as the battle starts, Romeo will instantly make his way over to you with his sickle, dealing quite heavy damage. So, don’t waste a second after regaining control of Pinocchio.

In case you couldn’t tell, Romeo doesn’t mess around. He goes straight to the point, deals massive damage, and backs out. These moments in which he slowly roams the arena in preparation for his next deadly attack are the best moments to target him. The Romeo boss, King of Puppets in Lies of P, moves quickly, but his sickle isn’t that fast. There’s a slow pause whenever he strikes, leaving him completely exposed to one or two hits. Granted, you’ll just have to say thank you for that slow progress and dodge your way out of the area after landing them.

If you spot Romeo targeting your summon, take advantage of it because it won’t last long.

Lies of P is available on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.
