A Castlevania crossover in V Rising is only inevitable. However, with Simon Belmont being added to the survival RPG game relatively late, that means he’s a tough boss. This famed progenitor vampire hunter carries a whip and a mean vampire-hunting attitude. If you want that whip and the achievement of turning the tables on a vampire hunter, I’ll be guiding you on how to defeat Simon Belmont in V Rising.

Sometimes, Simon Belmont will find you while you’re at a lower gear level. He typically roams around Dunley Farmlands and Silverlight Hills. And once you see him down the road, swaggily strutting about, it’s time to run if you’re under Level 80. He doesn’t stay in one spot and usually travels the road in search of vampires.

Simon Belmont’s level seems to scale based on yours. However, in the V Blood interface, he’s nestled between the Level 77 and Level 83 bosses. So don’t fight him if you haven’t reached the late game yet (Level 80+). Simon Belmont is quite possibly the third toughest boss in the game.

In any case, if you’re ready to face him, having Bat Form as a way to track him fast and also as an escape route is a good plan.

Before you fight him, preparation is key to winning here. Simon Belmont has a lot of health and utilizes fire damage to a certain extent.

So, drinking a Fire Resistance Brew is a must for this fight. The boss will often cover the fight area in flames, and you can’t do much to evade the fire after a certain point. Fire Resistance Brews last for 30 minutes, thankfully. That’s enough time to defeat Simon Belmont.

In addition to Fire Resistance Brews and damage boost potions, you might also want to bring a Sun Resistance Brew. You never know how long the fight will drag, and it takes place outdoors.

As for the actual fight with Simon Belmont, it’s straightforward, up until he starts spamming that fire tornado ability with a large area of effect. Watch out for this attack move; thankfully, it has a long windup and it’s well-telegraphed.

At this point, a combination of weapons and spells can help you stay in the fight longer and eventually win:

  • Use Pistols to stay in a safe range (most of Simon Belmont’s attacks are melee).
  • Veil of Blood (Blood dash) helps immensely in healing.
  • Use Chaos Volley or Void for attrition damage.

Even then, you might die a couple of times first even at Level 90 if you’re fighting Simon Belmont solo.

V Rising is available on PC and PlayStation platforms.
