How To Defeat the Devastator Mind Boss in Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate

It’s not that hard

Those who are already working on the campaign of The Edge of Fate will soon realize that there are a few bosses that require a few more steps to beat. Some just need the usual shield-disabling mechanics, while others will require a bit more work. One that might give you a bit of trouble is the Devastator Mind, which is part of the Mission: Fallow quest in Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate. Here’s a quick guide on how to beat it.

As mentioned above, the Devastator Mind is a boss of the Mission: Fallow quest, which is part of the Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate campaign. Actually, it is the final boss, so if you’re here, that means you’re in the home stretch. To trigger the fight, transmat the three objects on the map and then activate the rally banner. Once you do that, the floating foe will appear.

Like many other boss fights in Destiny 2, the Devastator Mind has three phases. However, there is one gimmick that you need to nail down to advance through the fight, and we’ll break it down here.

First Phase

The first phase is your usual DPS check, which will vary depending on the difficulty. On legendary, many more enemies will spawn, and you’ll need to eliminate them while also damaging the boss. The easiest way to survive this phase is by heading all the way to the back of the arena and hiding behind the pillars. From there, shoot the enemies that spawn on both sides of the area and then focus on the boss. Once that’s done, it will put its shields up, and it is time for some Matterspark puzzle.

Second and Third Phases

During the second and third phases, you’ll notice a few floating items on the arena. These items will send a beam of light toward a place in the area. You must destroy them to open a path for you to explore in your Matterspark way. In your Matterspark form, you then need to destroy the generators that are powering the boss’s shields. Below are the two entrances:

The first entrance is on the right side of the arena. It will be hard to locate as it is on the ground, and, assuming you killed all the enemies, their bodies might block your view. However, it is in the trench. Once you destroy the light-emitting cube, turn yourself into Matterspark and drop down into the trench. Follow the road until the end and then jump outside to find the generator and destroy it.

The second one is easier to find. It is on the left side of the arena on the wall. You can spot it easily because it is next to the stairs that lead to the generator room. The process is the same: destroy the cube, activate your Matterspark form, and roll in until you find your way to the generator.

One thing to keep in mind is that you’ll only be able to destroy one generator per phase. You can choose either the first or second option, as the order doesn’t matter. Regardless of which one you pick, just remember to get out of Matterspark to destroy the generator and damage the boss. Once you defeat the Devastator Mind, you’ll complete Mission: Fallow.
