Brutalities return to Mortal Kombat 1. Brutalities are special kinds of finishers, different from the classic Fatalities that the franchise is known for. The main difference between a Fatality and Brutality is that the latter is shorter and simpler. You can do a Brutality instantly before officially finishing a match. There are multiple ways to do a Brutality in Mortal Kombat 1, as all the characters have several unique finishers.

You can customize fighters’ finishers through the character customization option, where you can also change their gears and skins. If you don’t have a Brutality unlocked, you can’t use it during a match.

Brutalities in Mortal Kombat 1 are generally an extension of a combo or attack you perform during a match. You must perform the Brutality before the Finish Him (or Her) appears on the screen. Finish Him is when the winning fighter is given the time to do a Fatality and kill the loser.

For instance, when you finish a fight with Scorpion’s Teleport Punch, if you reach the correct requirements and have the Brutality unlocked, you may successfully perform the Hot Head finisher and end the match before the Finish Him sign pops up. Every finisher has a combo for you to perform. Each combo is unique, with little overlap. You can look up the combos for every finisher in the Fighter’s Menu in every match.

There is one Brutality shared with every fighter in the game. The Klassic is a special finisher where you uppercut an opponent so hard that their head pops off. Every character has the Klassic unlocked, and you can set every character to use it. You hold down and press the Back Punch button to perform the Klassic.

How To Unlock Brutalities in Mortal Kombat 1

You unlock Brutalities by leveling Kombatants’ ranks through the Mastery. Fighters level up via Online Ranked, Invasion, or Towers mode. What level each fighter learns a new finisher isn’t consistent among all the characters. Some Kombatants learn certain finishers sooner or later than others. You gain achievements by ranking and playing every fighter in the title’s roster.
