After you obtain a ship, the whole world will open for you to explore. One of the locations you can visit is the isolated Edina city that will lead you to the Ultimate Key in Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake. This town is located at the northwest corner of the map, and you must get past the guard to progress to the main quest. Unfortunately, everyone here is very discriminatory, and they reject all outsiders, especially the guard at the gate. However, you can sneak past this man after obtaining a rare item in another city.
How To Infiltrate Edina in Dragon Quest III HD-2D
To enter Edina City and get the Ultimate Key in Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, you need to visit another town called Lanson. This settlement can be found on the map’s southern side, so you need to travel using your new boat. The journey will likely take around two days so be prepared to fight enemies during nighttime.
Once you have arrived, you can go to the item shop and buy Fading Jenny for 500 Gold. Technically, you only need one, but you can buy more. After you have the item, you can teleport back to Edina City. Consuming the Fading Jenny will make your whole team invisible, allowing you to get past the guard.
Once inside, it doesn’t matter, even if the invisibility wears off since the people within aren’t as averse as the guard. Your goal is to enter the basement area by using the stairs to your left. You can also find a nun where you can save your progress.
How To Solve the Rock Puzzle
To reach the treasure chest in Edina City, you need to solve a rock puzzle. The goal is to push the three rocks on top of the switches at the end. The problem is that the rocks can fall into the water if you are not careful. Here’s what you need to do:
- Push Rock 1 north for one tile.
- Move it two tiles to the right.
- Go down and move Rock 2 one tile to the right.
- Keep pushing Rock 1 so it’ll reach the first switch.
- Go to Rock 3 and push it down one tile.
- Push Rock 2 until it stands on the edge of the pool.
- Walk around and push Rock 2 up.
- Move it to the right for two tiles and push it to the switch.
- Walk through the left path and push Rock 3 to the initial position.
- Keep pushing Rock 3 until it reaches the edge of the water.
- Repeat the same steps that you use for Rock 1 and 2.
How To Get Ultimate Key in Dragon Quest 3 Remake
Once you complete the rock puzzle in Edina, you can claim the Bottomless Pot from the treasure chest. You can also find a letter that will lead you to the location of the Ultimate Key. It is actually hidden inside an underwater chamber on the northeast sea. You will need to return to your ship and travel there.
Throwing the Bottomless Pot into the sea will swallow some of the seawater into itself. You can now enter the Shallows Shrine to find the Ultimate Key in the treasure chest. There is also the corpse of an unknown person who will tell you more information about the Archfiend.
