Garchomp, one of the strongest Dragon- and Ground-type pocket monsters for postgame content, is evolved from Gible and Gabite in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Gible is a small Land Shark Pokémon that can be found in underground caves around Paldea, such as the Alfornada Cavern system in South Province (Area Six). The Cave Pokémon Gabite can also be found in the same grotto, including several others in the northern half of the world map. Neither of these pocket monsters is rare, but players struggling to find them might need to eat Sandwiches or use the Picnic Table method to reset nearby Pokémon spawns.
Evolving Gible and Gabite into Garchomp in Scarlet & Violet
Once Trainers finally manage to find and catch Gible in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, they can evolve the Land Shark Pokémon into Gabite by leveling it to 24. Next, to evolve Gabite into the mighty Pseudo-Legendary Mach Pokémon Garchomp, players must advance the Cave pocket monster to Level 48.
Leveling Gible and Gabite from their default level to Garchomp’s prerequisite of Level 48 can be a challenge in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. For example, the amount of XP required to make the jump from 24 to 25 is vastly different from 47 to 48. Nevertheless, Trainers should not fret, as the game offers many ways to expedite this process.
Making the jump to Level 48 for evolving Gible and Gabite in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will doubtless be tricky. Nonetheless, this feat can be easily achieved by farming high-level pocket monsters in The Great Crater of Paldea for massive amounts of XP. Additionally, it should be noted that players should be participating in Tera Raids throughout their playthrough. This activity will net them a substantial amount of EXP and Rare Candies that can be used to achieve Garchomp’s evolution in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Defeating Tera opponents also grants excellent rewards in EXP.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available on the Nintendo Switch.
