If you thought the tide washing away your sand castle was scary, wait until you learn about Palossand. A Ground/Ghost-type sandcastle monster is the kind of thing that only Pokemon could pull off. Before you can terrify beachgoers with Palossand, however, you’ll need to evolve a Sandygast. Unfortunately, it’s not as easy as pulling the sand shovel out of its head. As a reward for your efforts, however, you’ll have a walking quicksand castle with which to threaten your enemies. Not bad. Here’s how to evolve Sandygast to Palossand in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Sandygast Evolution
(Updated on September 11, 2024 – updated information, images, and links)
Sandygast has a mercifully simple evolution requirement. You can evolve Sandygast into Palossand simply by leveling Sandygast up to 42. Some Pokemon won’t evolve until you give them a certain item, teach them certain moves, or meet other obscure requirements, but not Sandygast. This Gen VII Ground/Ghost-type only cares about one thing and one thing only: levels. That gives you a few ways to reach Level 42:
- Fight other Pokemon
- Use Rare Candy
- Capture a wild Palossand
If you don’t already have one, you can capture Sandygast on a beach near Casseroya Lake. Capturing a wild Palossand is a good workaround if you don’t feel like training your own, although doing so comes with downsides. Palossand is a solidly mid-range Pokemon, eclipsed by Legendaries as well as some starters. This ghastly castle is its own reward, however, as the cutest and creepiest beach-themed monster. It doesn’t hurt that it wields sand like Gaara. Does the beach’s goodest boy have a tragic backstory? Probably not, but we have more love for Palossand than there are grains of sand on the…well, you get it.
