One of the best things about the open-world wizarding title by Warner Bros. Games is how well it integrates magical creatures into gameplay. Whether they’re mounts or part of your lessons, these beasts are everywhere, and none of them are more majestic than Unicorns. If you’re determined enough, you can even find and capture one of these reclusive magical beasts. Here’s how to find and catch a Unicorn in Hogwarts Legacy.
How To Find a Unicorn in Hogwarts Legacy

The world of Harry Potter is beautiful and diverse, but it’s also dangerous, regardless of your build. That’s true not only for yourself but also for the various magical creatures. Not even pure-hearted Unicorns are safe, as readers learned all the way back in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Whether you want to capture and relocate these innocent creatures in order to protect them or because you’re a Slytherin with an empty petting zoo isn’t for us to judge.

Enter the Forest
Unfortunately, Unicorns are some of the rarest creatures in the game. To find them, you’ll need to go to the Forbidden Forest by traveling to the location marked on the map above. The fastest way is to use the nearby Floo Flame to fast travel and then fly the rest of the way on your broom. Once you land near the Unicorn’s Den, you’ll be one step closer to catching of these creatures for yourself.
Prepare for the Catch
When you find and catch a creature like a Unicorn in Hogwarts Legacy, you can befriend them and even gain special resources to improve your equipment. These noble beasts won’t allow themselves to be snatched out of the Forbidden Forest easily, however. They’re not like the game’s cats that just stand around waiting to be petted. To catch magical creatures, you must fulfill a few conditions first:
- Complete at least one Beast class.
- Progress in the game to unlock Room of Requirement and Vivarium.
- Complete The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and the Loom Quest to get the Nab-Sack.
How To Catch a Unicorn in Hogwarts Legacy
Now that you’ve finished the prerequisites, it’s time to catch a Unicorn in Hogwarts Legacy. Use the Disillusionment spell to prevent the Unicorn from noticing you so that you can get close. You’ll then need to use a spell to disable it long enough to catch it in the Nab-Sack. Glacius is an excellent choice, freezing the Unicorn on the spot so that you have time to spring your trap. Once the Unicorn is frozen, start using the Nab-Sack right away to draw the Unicorn in. You must be quick because the creature will flee if it can.
Once you’ve caught a Unicorn you can release it into your Vivarium, befriend it, and get Unicorn Hair. Unicorns only spawn every few in-game days, so once you’ve caught one, you’ll have to wait a while before you can get your hands on another. You can use Unicorn Hair to upgrade your gear, so there are a few good reasons to catch these fantastic beasts, once you know where to find them in Hogwarts Legacy.
