The Crossroad is a very powerful and useful place that lets you easily reach various regions using magical mirrors. Unfortunately, this put a target on this sacred region, and you need to remove the corruption of the elven gods. To do that, there are several monsters that you must defeat in this area. Among them is the Betrayal of Felassan boss in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, which you can defeat after beating another boss at Treviso.
How To Unlock Betrayal of Felassan Boss in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
To unlock the Betrayal of Felassan boss in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you must defeat the Desmal mini-boss at Treviso. You will be drawn toward this area in the city while progressing through A Slow Poison side quest. However, you can technically challenge this monster even before triggering this mission.
Desmal is a Darkspawn with Level 25. It will mainly attack you using Fire magic. Sometimes, it will send a blast of flame that you need to dodge. It can also send a line of fire spikes that will be followed by a jumping attack. If you’re not playing as a warrior, I recommend bringing Davrin since he can taunt the boss and take its attention off you for a second.
All of Desmal’s attacks are unblockable, so it’s best to use ranged attacks so you can easily dodge its moves. Once you reduce its HP bar to half, it will summon Blight tumors in the boss arena. These new growths will explode if you accidentally attack them. It will also get in your way, preventing you from easily dodging.
Once you have beaten Desmal, you can take its essence and teleport to the Crossroad. To easily find the Betrayal of Felassan boss, I recommend tracking the Gate of Deep Sorrows quest in the Journal. The arena will be hidden behind Blight thorns, but you need to defeat several waves of enemies with Level 24.
Boss Battle Strategy
Betrayal of Felassan is a Level 32 boss with Ice magic. During the battle, it will regularly summon several mobs that will attack you. Here are the moves you can expect from this enemy:
- Spear thrust – The boss will try to attack you with its spear but may also use a plunge attack.
- Ice projectiles – The monster will shoot several massive balls of ice that will inflict Chill.
- Ice whirlwind – This move is quite similar to Ice projectile but its range is much bigger. I recommend focusing on dodging when the boss hunkers down on one spot and starts aiming its shield at you.
- AoE ice attack – The boss will freeze a decent circular area around it and inflict AoE damage.
Despite its size, Betrayal of Felassan is quite fast, so you need to constantly move on your feet. Unlike Desmal, you can actually block some of its attacks, especially the projectiles. I simply preferred to dodge instead. Don’t forget to command your allies to use their abilities. I also suggest challenging this boss when you’ve at least reached Level 25, if not more.
Beating Betrayal of Felassan will give you The Burden Amulet. This gear can increase your damage by 20 percent when you’re at low health. The downside is that your max health will be capped at 70 percent.
