Exploring the dungeons in Dark and Darker, you will encounter many different enemies and other players. Luckily, you can team up with two more players to form a team of different classes and builds for the sake of survival. However, in some dungeons, you have to rely only on your strength and skills, such as in The Goblin Caves. In it, you may come across a very troublesome boss called the Cave Troll. Despite low health, the Cave Troll is one of the most powerful bosses in Dark and Darker. And this is not surprising since it can only be found in a solo dungeon, the aforementioned Goblin Caves. As the name suggests, you will have to explore the intricate caves inhabited by goblins. But if you are interested in bigger fish, you should fight the Cave Troll.
To find the Cave Troll in Dark and Darker, you need to go down to the very bottom of the dungeon. There are various paths leading there, so you just have to look for stairs heading downward. Reaching the bottom, you will find a stone door with runes. But before you open it, we recommend you prepare yourself since the Cave Troll boss awaits you right behind it.
How to Beat the Cave Troll in Dark and Darker
First of all, you should know that the danger of the Cave Troll lies in its strong strikes since he has quite low health in Dark and Darker. The boss can also only attack at close range. Therefore, you’d better use ranged attacks against him. For this strategy, you only need weapons and gear which can increase your speed. And you need to remove other gear to increase your speed even more. Then keep the Cave Troll at a distance by running along the walls of the room. It can take some time, but you should be able to defeat the boss without taking any damage.
However, this does not mean you cannot beat Cave Troll in Dark and Darker using other builds. Actually, you can defeat the boss even as a level 1 Barbarian, as MojitoBeans did on YouTube (shown below). He also didn’t use any gear to increase his speed.
This method involves avoiding any damage from the Cave Troll, which is quite hard if you are fighting it for the first time. The boss has several attacks that can hit in a wide radius. What’s more, it can perform combos if you get too close. Therefore, you need to hit during the small pauses between Cave Troll attacks:
- Swing Attacks – The Troll swings its weapon with its left hand. The boss can strike this blow at different heights.
- Roar Attack – The Troll roars and slows the player down. If you get hit by this attack, the Troll will continue the combo with one of its Swing attacks.
- Slam Attack – The Troll uses both hands to slam the weapon on the ground. This AoE attack is very dangerous, so you should run away from the boss as quickly as possible to avoid damage.
