There are so many quests in The Blood of Dawnwalker, but the ones that stand out the most are those in the critical path, as they often offer so many possibilities to complete them. One of the first you’ll find in The Blood of Dawnwalker is the “A Monk and a Saint” quest, which might be a bit difficult to complete because you’ll need Saint Mihai’s symbol. If you’re struggling to obtain it, we’ll show you where to find it.
A Monk and a Saint Walkthrough
The quest should start as soon as you head into Svartrau’s cathedral, which is part of the main quest. There, you’ll get the “A Monk and a Saint” mission, which requires you to enter Saint Mihai’s crypt to find a sword that might defeat Brencis. However, it is easier said than done, as you will get several options to locate the crypt. One will task you with finding another NPC, and another will tell you to wait a bit and keep talking to other NPCs inside the cathedral. In our case, we decided to go the exploration route and ended up discovering another approach.

To find Saint Mihai’s symbols in The Blood of Dawnwalker, you should wait until it’s night. Then, head to the back of the cathedral, and you will see a covered-up well. Interact with it and slide down.
You will find a corpse with a note, saying that someone else was already looking for the crypt. However, the wall is too thick, meaning you will need to find another way inside. After inspecting the corpse, follow the tunnel, and you’ll emerge at another part of the cathedral. Fight all the enemies and start inspecting the stone tablets on the ground.

You will notice that all of these tablets are covered in leaves. Clean them up, and you’ll be able to inspect each one.
Contrary to other quests, there is no way to bypass objectives here, meaning you can’t guess which tablet is the crypt’s entrance. So, for now, all you can do is continue exploring.

While not required, we recommend visiting the library, which is just next to the cathedral. On the top floor, you’ll find The Annals of Svartrau Cathedral, confirming that Saint Mihai was buried beneath it. With that piece of information ready, wait until it’s morning.

In the morning, or at any moment during the day, head inside the cathedral and take a left to talk to the kid guarding a storage room of sorts. You will need to convince him to let you inside. Do so in whichever way you prefer (paying him is the easiest approach) and interact with the book to get the treasury key.

Exit the cathedral and take a right; you will see the building in the above image, which is the treasury.

Use the key to enter and head downstairs using Focus Mode. You’ll see a strange bookshelf. Push it, and it will lead you to a secret room.

Head to the table and interact with it; you will see a goblet of sorts. Rotate it until you see Saint Mihai’s symbol.

With the symbol discovered, all you have to do is return to where the tablets are, interact with the right one, and head to the crypt.
We won’t spoil what happens after, but there’s a tough boss fight ahead. Beating the boss will progress the story, but you’ll have to complete the optional quest “Forge It Anew.” Make sure you’re hunting for those sword fragments, as they will be a key element for your main quest.
