There are a few fixes for a black screen on startup in Ready or Not. If you haven’t already, some of the more obvious fixes include:

  1. Update Your Drivers

If you’re meeting the minimum game requirements, then it’s possible that your drivers are to blame for a black screen. Close out the game, update your drivers, and try opening it up again.

  2. Disable Overlay Apps

Apps like Discord could be messing with the game’s startup. You’ll want to remove any overlay capabilities from the Xbox Game Bar, Discord, Nvidia GeForce Experience, and Steam if you have them active.

  3. Verify Game Integrity

Go into Ready or Not’s properties on Steam and in the Local Files tab, check the Game File Integrity option.

  4. Check Windows Updates

While not likely, check your PC for any Windows updates that could fix your problem.

Other Fixes

If you’re still having trouble, then don’t worry. Some players have reported that the following fixes also work:

  • Press Alt-F4 and restart the game.
  • Stop any soundboard programs that you might be using prior to starting the game.
    • Players have reported this fox to work more specifically with VoiceMeeter.

If there are any other fixes that we didn’t mention, feel free to let us know in the comments below. We’ll update the article according as more fixes become available.

Ready or Not is available on PC.
