If everything in a game worked perfectly all the time, we will surely live in quite the utopia. Unfortunately, that is not the case. When Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 announced crossplay, many players jumped at the chance to play with friends regardless of platform. However, that does not always work right. Potential Fix #2: Disable and Turn Crossplay Back On
Similar to restarting, this might remove and fix the “Failed Fetching Crossplay Friends List” error in MW2. To do so, follow the steps below:
- Launch the game and go to the Settings
- Select “Options” and go to “Account and Network”
- Look for “Crossplay” and choose to disable it
Afterward, consider restarting the game and going back to Settings to enable it again. Perhaps this will resolve the issue.

For those of you on PC, you probably have anti-lag software installed. Consider disabling this and seeing if it corrects the problem.
