For the unaware, FFXIV Dawntrail will feature the MMO’s graphical update, and to allow players to see their characters in a new light, Square Enix is giving us a free Fantasia. If you think this might be an insignificant reward, it isn’t. Fantasia addiction is a real thing that occurs in Final Fantasy 14, with so many players buying dozens of these potions to change their characters’ races, looks, and more. Thankfully, you won’t have to spend any money because this freebie only needs one quick quest.

(This guide contains information from the FFXIV 7.0 patch notes and will be updated once Dawntrail goes live).

How To Unlock the Bottled Fantasy Quest

Everyone can get the free Fantasia after finishing the Bottled Fantasy side quest in FFXIV Dawntrail. According to the patch notes, this quest should be available for anyone regardless of their account status. This means that trial players might be able to get the coveted flask, too. To obtain it, you must do the following:

  1. Complete the main quest scenario until you leave your starting city. This happens after the Call of the Sea quest.
  2. Continue with the main quest and complete the Scions of the Seventh Dawn quest. This is the one that also unlocks Retainers.
  3. Head to Ul’dah and speak with the Medicine Merchant at coordinates (X: 13.4, Y: 9.2) to start the Bottled Fantasy quest.
  4. After completing it, players will obtain a free Fantasia.

FFXIV Dawntrail is changing the rules on how Fantasia works, which includes the free one you’ll get. After using the item and heading to the character creation screen, once you select all your changes, you’ll have 60 minutes to revert the changes or try a new look for your Warrior of Light. This is a fantastic addition as it allows players to test their characters in different situations and not just the character creator. Still, make sure to use your Fantasia wisely unless you want to go on a spending spree.
