One item highly sought after by new or casual Trainers in Pokemon Go is the Sinnoh Stone, used to evolve certain pocket monsters. If you’ve been playing Go for months or even years, you will likely have a stack of unused stones in your inventory. However, acquiring this Evolution Item can be a bit challenging for those less well-versed in the game’s reward drop mechanics. As accessible as Pokemon Go is, there’s no distinct tutorial explaining where a resource like Sinnoh Stones comes from.

Pokemon Go Sinnoh Stones can be obtained from three sources in 2024:

  1. Research Breakthrough rewards for Field Research Tasks
  2. GO Battle League rewards
  3. Rewards for defeating Team Go Rocket Leaders

How To Achieve a Research Breakthrough

To get a Research Breakthrough for a Sinnoh Stone in Pokemon Go 2024, you need to complete seven Field Research Tasks. Every time you clear one, you’ll receive a stamp displaying the completion date. Unlike streaks, Research Breakthroughs do not require you to consecutively complete tasks daily.

For instance, we were able to earn stamps on Jun 8, Jun 11, and Jul 20. These three task completions progressed us toward our Research Breakthrough without issue. Still, you must understand that the rewards for the breakthrough are randomized, meaning your chances of getting a stone aren’t guaranteed.

How To Earn GO Battle League Rewards

Pokemon Go‘s Battle League is the game’s PvP activity in which you can face off against Trainers with Pokemon similar in strength to your own. As you rank up, you’ll earn rewards like Stardust, random encounters, Rare Candy, and Evolution Items. If you’re lucky, you might get a Sinnoh Stone in Pokemon Go 2024 for your efforts in PvP. Unlike Research Breakthroughs, you do not have real-time restrictions to how often you battle other Trainers.

How to Defeat Team Go Rocket Leaders

A third source of Sinnoh Stones in 2024 of Pokemon Go are the Rocket Leaders: Sierra, Arlo, Cliff, and Giovanni. After defeating six Grunts and collecting their Mysterious Components, you can get an encounter with one of the leaders via the Rocket Radar. Once defeated, they can drop a Sinnoh Stone, along with other goodies like Trainer EXP and Stardust. As for Giovanni, he can only be summoned with a Super Rocket Radar, a unique device available during specific Team Go Rocket events.

Be warned — Rocket Leaders are tough and involve more strategic planning compared to questing Field Research or PvP’ing randos. Nevertheless, the compensations you receive are almost always worth the effort, especially if the Sinnoh Stone you desire is among the rewards.

How To Use Sinnoh Stones in Pokemon Go 2024

For reference, here’s a list of Pokemon that use the stone to evolve, all of which require 100 Candy for their evolutions:
