Not to be confused with Cubone’s evolution in Pokémon GO, Alolan Marowak is the “non-evolvable” variant of standard Marowak. The primary differences between these versions are their appearance and elemental type. The default look of this pocket monster looks similar to and has an identical color scheme to Cubone. Conversely, the Alola Form features darker colors and a flaming bone weapon. Regarding elemental types, Kanto Marowak is a Ground-type Pokémon, but Alolan Marowak is a Fire- and Ghost-type creature. As a result, the optimal counters for defeating this monster are completely different.

Unless an ongoing event features Alolan Marowak as a potential Wild Encounter or hatchable monster, Pokémon GO Trainers will primarily get Marowak’s Alolan Form by participating in Three-Star Raids. As noted above, Alolan Cubone currently does not exist in-game; therefore, there is no valid way to get Alolan Marowak through evolution.

Since you will likely encounter Alolan Marowak as a Raid Boss in Pokémon GO, let’s go over the best counters for this pocket monster. If you are a veteran player with high-tier Legendaries and expendable Mega Candy, Pokebattler claims that Kartana, Mega Sceptile, Mega Swampert, Primal Kyogre, and Mega Blastoise are choice combatants for an Alolan Marowak Raid.

Nevertheless, if you do not own these hard-to-get pocket monsters, we’ve listed multiple counters that should be accessible for both hardcore and casual Trainers. For reference, Alolan Marowak is weak to Ground-, Rock-, Ghost-, Water-, and Dark-type Moves in Pokémon GO.
