Inkay was introduced back when Pokemon X and Y came out for the Nintendo 3DS. It’s been brought back to the series in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disk alongside evolution Malamar. Inkay has a relatively normal evolution cycle compared to other Pokemon. To show you, let’s dive into how to get and evolve Inkay in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disk.
Inkay – Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disk Walkthrough
Finding Inkay in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disk is incredibly easy. Heading over to the Coastal biome, you should find one by the water in no time. There’s no set period of day or area where they are most abundant. If you’re new to how to evolve Inkay, then you’re going to be surprised. At Level 30, your Inkay will evolve into Malamar only if your Switch system is upside down for the duration of the evolution.
To ensure that this will work, the Switch must be in handheld mode and you need to disconnect any controllers except for the Joy-Cons that are attached. You will also need to turn the console upside down before the evolution scene begins. If it doesn’t work when you hit Level 30, then you can try again at Level 31, and so on. Our advice for leveling up Inkay quickly is to use an Exp. Candy or Rare Candy. Otherwise, just keeping it in your party while you battle will also reward it with passive Exp.
We first saw this method of evolution introduced in Pokemon X and Y. You needed to use the same method with the 3DS to get a Malamar. The difference, however, is that the gyro feature on the Switch can be a little problematic.
