Arapaima is a fish that is not only difficult to find, but also extremely complicated to catch. Indeed, knowing how to get Arapaima in Coral Island is essential since you’ll need this fish to increase your town rank, complete a certain quest, and many other tasks. Like for most other fish in the game, to catch Arapaima you’ll need to wait for a certain season, weather, and time of day before it shows up. Also, be patient, considering that this type of fish is huge, it will be a lot more difficult to pull it out of the water.

To catch Arapaima, you’ll need to wait until the water is cold. Only then should you pick up the fishing rod and attempt to catch one. So, this is when you need to catch this fish:

  • Season: Fall or Winter.
  • Location: River (Forest).
  • Time: All day.
  • Weather: Rain, Blizzard, Snow, Storm.

When all the conditions are met, go to the river and start fishing. Given that this fish is rare, you may need to wait a bit before it appears. When you manage to hook an Arapaima, be mindful that it’s extremely complicated to pull it out of the water. In other words, for beginners, it can be a real challenge. In our case, it took us more than two minutes to get it to the shore because the fish was floundering.

The main advice is to take your time. If you want to quickly pull Arapaima out of the water, you will not succeed, and you’ll simply break the Fishing Pole. Instead, tap patiently and periodically in between when the fish is floundering. It may take some time, but this is the best method to catch Arapaima.

When you finally catch it, you will realize that it’s worth it because this fish will be very useful for your progress in the game. Here are the situations in which Arapaima can be helpful:

  • To offer a sacrifice on the altar in Lake Temple.
  • To complete the Night Fish quest given to you by Jim.
  • Can be donated to a museum to get points to increase the town rank.
  • May be used for the fish pond.
  • As a gift to one of the islanders.

As you can see, there are quite a few ways to use it, so having at least one Arapaima in your inventory is a must.
