Many companions can join your adventures with powerful stats and handy movesets, but Armored Mewtwo in Pokemon Go easily stands out. Debuting back in 2019, Armored Mewtwo is a Legendary companion just like the original Mewtwo. However, if you know the films, you know just how different the armored variant is. Their differences are not only with appearances. The pair also boasts separate stats. We’ll explain how you can get an Armored Mewtwo and how to use it in the game.
Can You Catch Armored Mewtwo in Pokemon Go?
So, here’s the unfortunate truth: no, you cannot catch Armored Mewtwo. The Legendary Pokemon arrived in the game with a promotional event for Netflix’s Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back – Evolution. In the franchise’s first CGI film, we saw the new design for Armored Mewtwo. Pokemon Go players had a chance to enjoy it as well via Raid Battles.
However, it was only a limited-time event. If you did not get Armored Mewtwo in Pokemon Go at that time, then there is no other way to catch it. The game has not brought the Legendary companion back with Raids or otherwise.
You’ll need Pokemon Go friends if you want your own Armored Mewtwo. The only way to get one now is through trading, and since Armored Mewtwo is a Legendary, you can trade for them. Not everyone is willing to part with it, though. So, you might have to make a compelling argument or offer a worthy trade. If you’ve never traded before, you can first follow our guide on how to get friends in Pokemon Go and then use the steps below for trading:
- You must be friends and be at Level 10 or higher to trade.
- The two of you must be within 100 meters of each other.
- Open the “Friends” in the Trainer Profile and select your friend.
- Tap the “Trade” button and choose the Pokemon you wish to trade over.
- Confirm the trade.
As a Legendary Pokemon, Armored Mewtwo is a Special Trade in Pokemon Go. So, you can only make a Special Trade once daily.

Stats | Armored Mewtwo | Mewtwo |
Attack | 182 | 300 |
