A core part of Destiny 2 involves gathering and improving your gear to make your character stronger. Ascendant Shards are a special kind of material that you need for this. They’re used to make Exotic and Legendary armor pieces the best they can be. The value of Ascendant Shards has grown even more pronounced post the Season of Deep update. Nonetheless, obtaining them is no simple task due to their rarity. Fortunately, engaging in specific activities offers a pathway to attain this coveted currency in Destiny 2. In this article, we will explore the convenient ways to get Ascendant Shards.

How To Farm Ascendant Shards in Destiny 2

Acquiring Ascendant Shards requires players to participate in a variety of activities that offer this valuable resource as a reward. Both newcomers and experienced players can utilize several methods mentioned below to efficiently gather Shards.

  • Completing Ranks of the Season Pass
  • Completing Master and Grandmaster Nightfalls
  • Reset Rank Reward From Vendors
  • Trials Of Osiris
  • Master Rahool Currency Exchange

Season Pass

The most straightforward approach to obtaining Ascendant Shards is through a paid option, namely the Season Pass. By having the Season Pass, players can secure a total of three Ascendant Shards as rewards. Reaching specific milestones, specifically at levels 80, 85, and 94, within the Season Pass progression will grant players one Shard each.

Completing Master and Grandmaster Nightfalls

To efficiently farm Ascendant Shards, engage in Master and Grandmaster Nightfalls. These demanding yet rewarding activities yield potent loot. If you’re up for the challenge and desire formidable rewards, these are a must-try. It’s advisable to assemble a team of companions and develop a formidable loadout to optimize the rewards. As a bonus tip, participating in Nightfall Bonus Rewards weeks will double both your regular rewards and Ascendant Shards, amplifying your gains.

Reset Rank Reward From Vendors

An additional approach to acquiring Ascendant Shards involves resetting your vendor rank. To do this, you must achieve a vendor rank of at least level 16. Upon resetting the rank, players receive a bonus Ascendant Shard. Notable vendors for this include Banshee-44 (Gunsmith), Commander Zavala (Vanguard), and Saint-14 (Trials of Osiris), among others. While you can reset vendor ranks multiple times, the Ascendant Shard is awarded only upon the first reset, followed by an Exotic Engram in subsequent resets.

Trials Of Osiris

By achieving a flawless victory in the first week of Trials of Osiris, players can secure an Ascendant Shard from the Lighthouse Chest. Going flawless entails triumphing in seven consecutive Trials of Osiris matches without a single loss. This reward, however, is a one-time offer, and subsequent flawless completions in the same week will yield an Enhancement Prism instead.

Master Rahool Currency Exchange

Finally, if engaging in activities isn’t your preference, you can consider trading with Master Rahool. Keep in mind that this method is more expensive, requiring a substantial amount of Enhancement Prisms and Glimmer. To acquire a single Ascendant Shard, you’ll need 10 Enhancement Prisms and 50,000 Glimmer. While you can purchase as many as your budget permits, it’s worth noting that this route comes at a higher cost compared to other methods.
