Many familiar items and mechanics have returned to Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda’s new entry. While most of us were expecting that after watching the trailer and seeing some gameplay, some were hoping for adjustments or changes. Many still complain about the weapon’s durability, but thankfully new innovations such as the Fuse mechanic offers a solution. On the other hand, we still have survival elements, which might be good and bad for some. In Tears of the Kingdom, there are many ways to get cold resistance, and today we’ll tell you how to get it in this handy guide we’ve prepared.

You can do a few things to get cold resistance in Tears of the Kingdom. The first one you’ll learn during your first hours of the game is cooking. This one is easy but only provides temporal protection against the cold. That is why you must cook often when venturing into a cold place. Here we’ll list some of the ingredients that provide cold resistance when combined with others:

  • Warm Darner
  • Summerwing Butterfly
  • Spicy Peppers
  • Sunshrooms
  • Sizzlefin Trout
  • Warm Safflina

The above items are great if you are planning to cook to get some cold resistance. You can combine them with apples, meat, and more to see what you get. Besides providing warmth, they’ll also heal you, so they are handy when fighting. You can find the detailed cold resistance recipe and how to cook it here.

Cold Resistant Armor in Tears of the Kingdom

While cooking is great, some people might want a more permanent solution when exploring. The best way to get cold resistance in Tears of the Kingdom is by getting specific armor. Here’s the armor that provides warmth and how to get it:

  • Archaic Warm Greaves: Inside a hollow tree in the tutorial area. (Ascend required)
  • Snowquill Armor Set (Rito Village)
    • Headdress: 650 Rupees
    • Tunic: 500 Rupees
    • Trousers: 1000 Rupees

If you have the money or time to spare, you should look for these items immediately. The first one is right up for grabs during the first hours of the game and should protect you for a while. Yet, for colder environments, you’ll need to get the Snowquill set, which, while expensive, offers the best protection.

And that’s all we have on how to get cold resistance in Tears of the Kingdom. If you want to explore cold areas, make this a priority to make your journey a lot easier. If not, you can always stock up on ingredients and get cooking before traveling to the snowy fields of Hyrule.

Tears of the Kingdom is available on Nintendo Switch.
