The Crystal Staff, a unique melee weapon exclusive to the Remnant 2: The Forgotten Kingdom DLC is a force to be reckoned with. This staff harnesses the power of a blue gemstone, infusing it with energy that not only strikes enemies but also releases a devastating ball of energy upon impact. Its charged attack creates a shockwave spanning up to seven meters, making it a formidable weapon in close combat. The Crystal Staff is best paired with the Disciple Armor, and the good news is that you can acquire it quickly.

This weapon is part of the new DLC, so you must start a new campaign in The Forgotten Kingdom. This way, you can access the latest areas of the expansion; the one you are interested in is Infested Abyss. Remnant 2 is a game that spawns its dungeons, items, and enemies procedurally, so locations of items often change. Infested Abyss may not appear in your first campaign, so you will need to reroll or go to a friend’s world until you find this dungeon.

Your journey to the Crystal Staff begins once you’ve located the Infested Abyss dungeon. Descend to the level just before The Root Emissary Boss. To reach the lower levels, you’ll need to defeat three Root Nexus’s scattered across the map. Each confrontation with a Root Nexus will summon a wave of enemies, with their strength increasing the closer you get to the boss. Be cautious, as the Nexus is surrounded by a dense red mist that will gradually drain your health due to Root contamination. A strategic approach is key here, so consider fighting from higher areas to eliminate the minions first before attacking the Root Nexus.

When you have cleared the obstacles in your path and are close to the Root Emissary, look for a stone coffin. The coffin stands, leaning against one of the root walls, with a skeleton holding the Crystal Staff.

The Crystal Staff has its own mod but leaves its mutator slot open for you. We recommend this Invoker build that uses this melee weapon. Overall, out of all melee armaments in the game, this one is quite versatile. It is great for those focusing on Elemental Damage or DoT effects. So, if you have it with you, don’t be afraid to add it to your repertoire to see how well it fits your build.
