The Teal Mask DLC for Scarlet and Violet didn’t just add new Pokemon native to the Kitakami region, but also tons of returning favorites. One such Pokemon is the cute, round, and squishy-looking Poliwag. Locating one is actually not particularly difficult. But if you need some help, then our Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Teal Mask guide will tell you how to find and evolve Poliwag.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Teal Mask: Where to Find Poliwag
Poliwag is a Water-Type Pokemon that is inspired by a tadpole. With such clever deductive reasoning, that means you should be able to easily find them around rivers. But which river in Kitakami should you head to? Thankfully, you can find one extremely close to the DLC’s starting location, Mossui Town.
Leave the town through the east exit until you reach a short bridge. Drop down the bridge towards the northeast and you should be able to spot at least one Poliwag around this river area!
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Teal Mask: How to Evolve Poliwag
Poliwag will evolve into Poliwhirl at Level 25. Since most Pokemon in The Teal Mask DLC will spawn at Level 50 and up, you’ll only need to level Poliwag up once. It will then evolve into a Poliwhirl. Now, the combat-ready frog is ready to evolve once more. Just like in previous Pokemon Generations, or at least since Generation II, there are two paths you can choose.
First, if you want to evolve Poliwhirl into Poliwrath, you’ll need a Water Stone. If you have one, just use the item on a Poliwhirl, and you get yourself a Poliwrath. Nevertheless, finding a Water Stone for Poliwag in Teal Mask‘s Kitakami might be hard. The easiest way to acquire one is by purchasing a Water Stone for 3,000 Pokedollars at Delibird Presents in Paldea.
Meanwhile, if you want a Politoed, then you need a King’s Rock and a trade partner. Again, head over to the nearest Delibird Presents to buy a King’s Rock for 10,000 Pokedollars. Or read more about it in our King’s Rock locations guide. Equip it on a Poliwhirl, trade it with a friend, and it will evolve into a Politoed. That’s all there is to catching and evolving a Poliwag in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Teal Mask. Stay tuned for more coverage and guides on Pokemon and Nintendo games at The Nerd Stash.
