This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

Diablo 4 Season 5 has placed many of its new and shiny goodies in old bosses, such as Lord Zir. To summon Lord Zir and get a chance to harvest those new unique items, you need Exquisite Blood and thankfully, there are now more generous ways to earn Exquisite Blood in Diablo 4 compared to the past seasons. In this guide, we’re going to detail the ways and how to farm Exquisite Blood in Diablo 4 Season 5.

[Updated on August 15, 2024 – Guide revised and easier methods added to reflect Diablo 4 Season 5 changes]

Exquisite Blood Drop Locations in Diablo 4 Season 5

Sadly, the most consistent way to earn Exquisite Blood in Diablo 4 is in World Tier 4. Several activities and reward sources in World Tier 4 can give you Exquisite Blood.

Helltides (open Tormented Chests)
Accursed Ritual in Helltides (Blood Maiden drop)
Ancenstral Nightmare Dungeons (Elite enemies)
Legion Events (completion chest)
World Boss Event (completion chest)

Seeing as Helltides are the most ubiquitous and most accessible, that’s your best bet. Howeve, Legion Events and World Bosses offer a fresh alternative so don’t discount them whenever they pop up on the map.

As for the Helltide farming for the Exquisite Blood, you want to kill mobs first to earn Baneful Hearts and then take those Baneful Hearts to Accursed Rituals in Helltides. Pick up everything that drops, including the Aberrant Cinders so you can open Tormented Chests in Helltides after killing the Blood Maiden in Accursed Rituals.

Alternatively, you can also just park your character in an Accursed Ritual and let other players start them if you don’t have the Baneful Hearts. Even if you don’t get Exquisite Blood drops, you’ll get Aberrant Cinders to open Tormented Chests.

Alternative Exquisite Blood Farm Locations

Apart from Helltides or other high-level activities, you can still prepare for Lord Zir by trying your luck with alternative Exquisite Blood farming methods. Try these locations and activities:

Tree of Whispers (Wisphers of the Dead Caches)
Treasure Goblins
Season Journey Caches

They’re not as consistent or as fast as the other World Tier 4 methods or activities, but do keep these activities on your periphery.

How to Use Exquisite Blood in Diablo 4

Once you have at least 9x Exquisite Blood in your inventory, here’s how to use it.

  1. Be in World Tier 4.
  2. Go to the Darkened Way Dungeon in Fractured Peaks.
  3. Head inside and proceed to the Bloodied Altar.
  4. Place the 9x Exquisite Blood in the pedestal to summon Lord Zir.
    • For Tormented Lord Zir, you need 27x Exquisite Blood and 2x Stygian Stones.
  5. Defeat Lord Zir.

Make sure your build is ready because your Exquisite Blood will not be refunded if you fail to defeat Lord Zir. Once you run out of Exquisite Blood, you’ll need to farm them again to fight Lord Zir.
