While trying to survive among the various insects in your backyard in Grounded, players will find dozens of different items and pieces of gear. You will need most of them to craft new tools, armor, or weapons. However, sometimes you will unlock recipes in Grounded that require new materials, such as Fungal Growth. To get it, you will have to fight not only beetles but also toxic gas. Here is how to get your hands on this funky material without becoming a bug snack.

Fungal Growth is a natural resource that only grows in the form of Haze Fungus in the Haze location. Due to the influence of spores, all beetles around become infected, and this material grows on them. Therefore, finding it is not very difficult. All you need to do is reach the Haze location in the southwest of the backyard. However, finding Fungal Growth in Grounded is much easier than getting them to base.

The entire Haze location is covered in a toxic fog that will quickly kill you if you come without preparation. Before you go looking for Fungal Growth in Grounded, you need to craft a Gas Mask. To do this, analyze the Weevil Nose, Stinkbug Part, or Stinkbug Gas Sack to unlock the recipe for this piece of armor:

  • Weevil Nose – 1
  • Gnat Fuzz – 4
  • Crude Rope – 2
  • Stinkbug Part – 1

After this, you can start farming Fungal Growth in large quantities in Grounded. Besides harvesting Haze Fungus, you should also kill every infected insect to get this material. But be careful, as most of them can explode.
