In most games where you can utilize a gun for combat, you’d probably expect to deal bonus damage by headshotting your foes to death. However, in Nightingale, you’ll have to have your sights set on a different part of the body. To deal bonus damage in Nightingale with your projectile weapons, you’ll have to break some hearts by dealing “Heartshots” to the creatures that stand in your way. If you’re wondering how to get Heartshots in Nightingale, read on to find out more.

What Are Heartshots in Nightingale?

You’ve heard of a headshot, which typically increases your damage when you shoot an enemy in the head. Nightingale has heartshots, however. Instead of aiming at the head, you’ll have to aim for the heart to deal bonus damage in Nightingale. An NPC named Reeve will give you a quest named “Take Aim and Shoot” which will allow you to learn the ins and outs of heartshots, but it’s not any more complicated than just aiming for the heart. (Vampires, beware.)

You can land heartshots on most enemies in the game, but you’ll likely have to land a headshot on any random animal. A heartshot will deal devastating damage to enemies, so you should aim to land them as much as you can. As you’d expect, the heartshot position on each enemy may not be the same, so do some experimenting as you go along to see which angles feel right based on which enemy you’re fighting. By the way, heartshots don’t replace headshots, as headshots do exist in the game. It exists alongside it as another way to reward your aim.

Any projectile weapon in the game is capable of landing a heartshot, even the lower-tier weapons that you might not think would. In other words, try getting some practice in, as landing heartshots will help you kill creatures more efficiently as you experience Nightingale.
