Upgrading tools in Grounded may not always be the easiest task, as upgrades require you to slay some wicked foes. However, you’re faced with the fact that you, simply put, are extremely limited without level 2 tools. You aren’t able to slice through huge weeds or even break through rocks without them, so they are rather more of a necessity than not. Braving the terrifying beasts and collecting resources from them may be the only option for any sort of progress. Keep reading below to learn how to upgrade your tools to get level 2 tools in Grounded.

To get yourself some level 2 tools, you’ll have to take on quite a few enemies. They may seem cute now, but as a tiny little player in Grounded, they don’t lack fierceness. Each will be difficult, but not impossible! Here are some that you will have to face:

  • Ladybug
  • Bombardier
  • Spiders
  • Stink Bug

The first tool that you will require is the level 2 axe, the Insect Axe so that you can begin to chop down weeds. This requires resources from a variety of creatures. You will need:

  • 1 Ladybug Head
  • 3 Bombardier Parts
  • 4 Spider Silk

To find a Ladybug, you can look anywhere. They won’t attack you unless they feel threatened, but you need to kill one. So, threaten one, you must! One of the best ways to take on this beast is to find some high ground and shoot down at it from above with some arrows.

To find a Bombardier, you can look near the big rake that is to the South of your spawn point. Keep in mind when fighting them that they spit acid! Keeping out of their line of sight will be very important. You will need to kill three of these to get the Bombardier parts to upgrade your tools to level 2 in Grounded.

Spiders are a bit more tricky. You’ll have to search through cobwebs in dry grass. However, baby spiders drop Spider Silk and can easily be killed compared to adult forms.

Finally, it is time to upgrade your Pebblet Hammer to the level 2 version, the Insect Hammer. This one requires a bit more than just bug resources, though. You will need:

  • 4 Stink Bug Parts
  • 4 Berry Leather
  • 1 Boiling Gland

Fighting Stink Bugs is very similar to fighting Bombardiers, as they spray stinky stuff at you that acts like acid and deals damage. Just fight them the same way you would a Bombardier!

Berry Leather is obtained by harvesting berries. However, you can only find them if you venture down to the Southeast portion of the map, near the house.

Boiling Glands can be collected from fallen Bombardiers, so you will probably already have one of these in your inventory. If you don’t, just repeat the process you went through to collect the 3 Bombardier parts for the Insect Axe.

Hopefully, with this guide, you will be able to upgrade your tools to level 2 in Grounded without any issues and be on your way!

She strives to be a successful gaming blogger, and has no complaint about the hours of game time she used to increase her knowledge of all things “geek”. She primarily writes gaming articles and fantasy novels. Ark: Survival Evolved is a favorite, along with Diablo 3, Warframe and Minecraft lately, though you can’t forget the good old Magic the Gathering card game! Writing about games truly gives her joy as it gives her another perspective to look at games from, a reason to really look into the mechanics of the game.
