The Best Diablo 4 Living Steel Farm Guide (How to Get & Use Living Steel)

This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

Diablo 4 loves its rituals, and one of the rituals for summoning an Uber boss involves collecting dozens of Living Steel. You need several Living Steel to summon either Gigoire, The Galvanic Saint, or his Tormented variant (which needs even more Living Steel). So you better get started with farming, and to help you with that, here’s our Diablo 4 Living Steel farm guide.

[Updated on August 20, 2024 – Added a more convenient method and guide revised based on Diablo 4 Season 5 changes]

Where to Farm Living Steel in Diablo 4 Season 5

Before you can focus-farm Living Steel, know that there are certain requirements for it. You’ll want to be at least in World Tier 3 for a consistent farming method for Living Steel. World Tier 4 is better, of course, so you can maximize your effort as you grind for Ancestral Gear.

Once you’ve met those requirements, simply join an active Helltide, farm Aberrant Cinders, and look for the Tortured Gift of Living Steel chests. Each one requires around 275 Aberrant Cinder, so make sure you don’t die in a Helltide. Otherwise, your progress will be set back. Each Tortured Gift of Living Steel can drop around five Living Steel.

That should be enough for one attempt at a regular Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint boss fight.

If you’re getting tired of Helltides, and opening Helltide chests, the good news is that Living Steel can also drop in random amounts from the following activities and enemies:

  • Elites
  • Local Events
  • Treasure Goblins
  • Whisper Caches
  • Hellborne
  • Blood Maiden

Blood Maidens can only be found in Helltides. So I recommend farming Blood Maidens (Accursed Rituals) again and again in Helltides to increase your chances of getting Living Steel. In case the Blood Maiden doesn’t drop Living Steel, she will at least make your Aberrant Cinder farming shorter, allowing you to open Tortured Gifts of Living Steel sooner.

You also don’t have to use your Baneful Hearts to summon Blood Maidens if you’ve run out. Other players can use theirs and you can join the fight. All you have to do is park your character near an Accursed Ritual or Blood Maiden spot.

Once you have enough Living Steel (at least 5x for regular Grigoire and 15x for Uber Grigoire). Head to the Hall of the Penitent in Kehjistan. Proceed through the area and look for an altar.

Once you’ve found an altar, place your Living Steel as an offering. This will summon Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint. Note that the Tormented Grigoire variant is Level 200 and is no slouch though the rewards are more jaw-dropping.
