What’s at stake?

Log Stakes are one of the most basic crafting items you can get in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. There’s nothing fancy about these chopped-up chunks of wood, but they’re still important. They’re part of getting a big job done early in the game: creating a Bridge Construction Kit. With that kit in hand, troublesome rivers won’t bother you anymore, allowing you to expand your village to your heart’s content. That’s a big deal in this cozy franchise. Here’s how to get Log Stakes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Unlike a Dab, you won’t just catch Log Stakes in the wild: you’ll need to craft them. Thankfully, Animal Crossing: New Horizons makes getting Log Stakes easy, because you start with the recipe. There’s no need to buy or unlock it. Here are the steps you’ll need to take to get Log Stakes:

  • Use your axe to chop a tree and get Wood x3
  • Go to the DIY workbench
  • Select the Log Stakes recipe
  • Select “Let’s do it!”

Log Stakes are one of the easiest items in the game to craft since they only require one ingredient and you start with the recipe. Log Stakes provide an additional 0.5 development points towards your island rating as an outdoor item, and you can even customize the type of wood using a Customization Kit or by paying Cyrus 1,000 Bells. Most players will want to get their hands on Log Stakes early to craft a Bridge Construction Kit. Keep in mind you’ll need other resources to do that as well, as that recipe requires Log Stakes x4, Stone x4, and Clay x4. Now that you know how to make Log Stakes, you’ll have that bridge up in no time.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available for Nintendo Switch.
