Subnautica: How to Get Magnetite

Luckily for us, Magnetite is one of the more common resources in the game, and can be found pretty easily if you know where to look. There are 4 different biomes, or areas where Magnetite can be found:

  • In the Mountains that can be found to the North of Lifepod 5
  • In the Mountain Range Caves that can be found next to the Kelp Forest that is within the Mountain Range
  • In the Jellyshroom Caves that can be found below the Safe Shallows and the Kelp Forest
  • In the Lost River
    • Entrance can be found in the Blood Kelp Zones, in the Deep Grand Reef, or near the border that is between the Bulb and Mountain biomes

When you head out to look for Magnetite, you will find it in the form of a large cluster of blue-colored minerals protruding from a rock.

How to Harvest Magnetite in Subnautica

Even though you can harvest some of the early game resources with your hands, like titanium, this isn’t the case for Magnetite. You’ll have to get your hands on a Prawn Suit Drill Arm in order to harvest them. To get that, you’ll have to have access to the Moonpool as well as a Vehicle Upgrade Console. To craft the Vehicle Upgrade Console, you will need:

  • 5x Titanium
  • 1x Lithium
  • 4x Diamond

What Can be Crafted with Magnetite?

  • Fabricator
  • Modification Station
  • Vehicle Modification Station
  • Scanner Room Fabricator
  • Cyclops Fabricator

As these items can be crafted with Magnetite, and some of them are actually very important, it’s crucial that you learn how to get your hands on some Magnetite.

This is everything you need to know about where and how to get Magnetite in Subnautica, and even what you can craft with it. Be sure to check back for more useful guides and as always, be safe and have fun!

Jordan is an experienced fantasy writer who spends hours behind her laptop, and lost in the pages of a book. She strives to be a successful gaming blogger, and has no complaint about the hours of game time she used to increase her knowledge of all things “geek”. She primarily writes gaming articles and fantasy novels. Ark: Survival Evolved is a favorite, along with Diablo 3, Warframe and Minecraft lately, though you can’t forget the good old Magic the Gathering card game! Writing about games truly gives her joy as it gives her another perspective to look at games from, a reason to really look into the mechanics of the game.
