This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

There are a ton of different bugs and resources that you can find in Palia, which makes it pretty difficult to be on top of everything that you can get. The Paper Lantern Bug is an insect that you can find in the game and it’s a bug that glows brightly and has a blueish-green color that’s translucent. Instead of going out on your own and trying to figure out exactly where or how to get it, we thought to just show you below.

The Paper Lantern Bug can be found between 6 p.m. and 3 a.m. along the coast of Bahari Bay or just north of it including areas like:

  • Beachcomber Cover.
  • Lighthouse Lagoon.
  • Coral Shores.
  • Statue Garden
  • Proudhorn Pass
  • Thorny Thicket
  • The Outskirts
  • Flooded Steps

You can catch it by throwing a smoke bomb at it while you’re sneaking towards it so that it doesn’t fly away. The catch rate for these bugs depending on the type of Belt that you have is as follows:

  • Makeshift Belt
    • Paper Lantern Bug – 100%
  • Standard Belt
    • Paper Lantern Bug – 100%
  • Fine Belt
    • Paper Lantern Bug – 100%
  • Exquisite Belt
    • Paper Lantern Bug – 100%

It’s pretty easy to spot them by the glow of their skin, though it’s only possible to do at night. Try not to scare them because they get spooked easily and will fly away. They’re pretty slow, so you will have that advantage over them when you spot them.

What Is The Paper Lantern Bug Used For?

The Paper Lantern Bug is used in a variety of different quests, accomplishments, and bundles as featured below:

  • Quests
    • Mine Mystery
  • Accomplishments
    • Kilima and Bahari Bug Collector
    • Master Kilima and Bahari Bug Collector
    • Catch Bugs
    • Advanced Bug Catcher
  • Bundles
    • Brightbug Bundle

You can also gift them to Auni or Elouisa, who will really enjoy them if you please, or you can hold them in a terrarium in your house. They also have a Base Value of 15 Gold and a Quality Value of 24 Gold. It’s important to know that the Paper Lantern Bug can’t be used to craft anything, and it does not give out any Silk Thread when caught, so don’t expect any resources to come out of catching one of these.

If you’re still having trouble finding one of these bugs, then you can check out this handy video by Sipder on YouTube:
