Merely consuming raw blood is for unrefined ghouls in the V Rising 1.0 release. You’re a vampire, and there’s so much more you can make with your hard-earned blood, like Primal Blood Essence. Whatever it is, it’s important for just about any aspect of your vampire existence in V Rising‘s late-game or endgame. Thus, I present you with a way to get Primal Blood Essence in V Rising in the most efficient or rewarding manner.
Primal Blood Essence Location in V Rising 1.0
Primal Blood Essence is the most potent and highest Blood Essence in the game, and it doesn’t drop from any enemy, no matter how powerful they are. You’ll need to craft it, like Greater Blood Essence.
For Primal Blood Essence, however, you need the Advanced Blood Press. It’s not available in the default Blood Press. Here’s a step-by-step process to unlock the Advanced Blood Press and start crafting your Primal Blood Essence.
- Bring your gear level to at least Level 55. Level 50 is fine if you’re good in combat.
- Track Jade the Vampire Hunter and slay her, she’s Level 57.
- Slaying Jade the Vampire Hunter will unlock the recipe for the Primal Blood Essence and the Advanced Blood Press structure.
- Go back to your base, build the Advanced Blood Press, and deposit either of these components to craft it:
- Greater Blood Essence or
- Exquisite Heart
There you have it, Primal Blood Essence. Just wait for it to finish crafting or refining. As for which of the two ingredients is better, Greater Blood Essence is much easier to produce as enemies can drop Blood Essence anyway.
While some rare enemies can also drop Exquisite Hearts, they’re harder to farm than Blood Essence. Just about any enemy can drop Blood Essence, but if you’re not in shape for combat or hunting, you can also just obtain Blood Essence from rats that you can generate using the Vermin Nest.
What to Craft First with Primal Blood Essence
Since Primal Blood Essence can be rare depending on your difficulty settings, you’ll want to be wise in spending it.

V Rising 1.0: How To Fast TravelYou need it for Bloodmoon Armor sets and Sanguine Weapons. Legendary Ancestral Weapons also require Primal Blood Essence.
To that end, I recommend prioritizing weapons over anything else. But also make sure to leave at least 1x Primal Blood Essence left to craft the Anvil structure, as this will help you unlock more powerful weapons.
V Rising 1.0 is out now and available on the PC and PlayStation 5.
