While Black Myth: Wukong already offers a wide variety of skills and spells to obliterate enemies, none does as much damage as the Ashen Slumber transformation. If you didn’t know, the Chosen One can take on many forms to aid him in combat. You might get a few of them during the main story and with little to no effort, but others turn into a rightful treasure hunt where the slightest mistake can make a transformation missable. So, if you’re already at Chapter 2 and still exploring its sandy locales, we’ll help you start working on the Ashen Slumber transformation.
Starting The Quest
While the Ashen Slumber transformation appears in the third chapter of Black Myth: Wukong, it will only show up if you’ve done a quick quest in Chapter 2. To get started, you need to reach the shrine at the entrance of the Sand Village and defeat the two-headed rat enemies before facing the father and son duo as bosses. These two-headed enemies are quite challenging and will even explode after beating them. Once you defeat this duo, do the following:
- Face the gate that leads to the father and son boss fight, but instead of entering, turn around.
- Keep following the road until you spot a hut on the right side. It will be on the left side if you enter the village through the gate you open after defeating the Earth Wolf.
- You’ll see a rock blocking the hut’s entrance and speak with the individuals locked inside until they run out of dialogue.
By following these steps, the first part to unlock the Ashen Slumber transformation in Black Myth: Wukong is almost done.
Finding the Body in Chapter 3
The last part isn’t too difficult and only involves reaching Chapter 3, beating one boss, and finding a particular shrine. These are the steps:
- Once you reach Chapter 3, find the Lower Pagoda shrine.
- Travel to it and run straight until you find a cell with a dead body inside with a sword stuck in it.
- If the door won’t open, you must defeat Captain Lotus-Vision.
- Interact with the sword stuck in the body to unlock the transformation.
As an optional transformation, this one is one of the best and has some fantastic moves. Here’s the list:
- Light Attack – Chop Wood: Swing the iron blade three times, building up focus with each hit.
- Heavy Attack – Blow Fire: With full Focus, hold Heavy Attack to unleash this skill, exhaling a scorching wave that continuously burns enemies ahead. The longer you hold, the fiercer the flames become. Dodging will not waste Focus built.
- Spell – Fiery Burst: Release this spell to self-explode, causing area damage and detransforming.

Black Myth: Wukong Starter GuideThis is an excellent transformation for those who want to do considerable DPS in a short moment and go out with a literal bang. The important thing here is to try to build as much focus as possible and unleash your attacks at the right moment so you can also make use of the explosion. Regardless, this is a great addition to your arsenal and something that will make your journey slightly easier.
